underratted/underappreciated games
what do you guys feel are games that are considerd "black sheep" but in your personal opinion are classics. system doesnt matter, nor age/genre.
my first would have to be demons crest i played it when i was a munckin so it stuck to me but playing it now is so much fun. i dig the music, the graphics are good for a 2d platformer/sidescroller. it had one major flaw though, no TRUE save system. instead it opted out and used the password system and while it worked it just didnt fit the games style right.

While I can easily name overrated games, for underrated, the only one that comes to mind is X-Men 2: Clone Wars on Genesis.

I thought Corvette was a good game, it may not be much more than Need for Speed Porshe Unlimited with Corvettes instead of Porshes, but is that a bad thing? I didn't think NFS:PU was bad either, but I prefer Corvettes over Porshes...

I have to go with Perfect Dark on the 64. IMO its far superior in multi-player than Goldeneye, but Goldeneye has always been referred to as THE shooter for the 64.

perfect dark was high rated i thought. it ran and played exactly like goldeneye so i dont see why it would be considered underrated. goldeneye/perfect dark would make hella good pc ports. it doesnt feel right using a joystick/gamepad for a fps.

Silver was a nice game for sure. I personally think Shenmue 2 on XBOX was ENTIRELY underrated and is still one of the best examples of a truely seemless RPG Advanture - no stats, no numbers, just character development in a realtime world which opens up around you as you progress in skill and understanding.

Disaster report is a game that has bad reviews, thats pretty low budget and that noone probably ever heard of. nonetheless it was one of the most interesting games on the ps2: theres no stupid enemies to fight. this is a game where your only true enemy is nature itself: youre on an artificial island that is about to collapse: earthquakes, floods, fires.... you watch gigantic houseblocks collaps left and right of you and it really feels very threatening. unfortunately they messed up gameplay quite a lot, you pretty much got infinite health and even though its a nice idea that you have to take care of your thirst and that you can manage your inventory to carry around bottles, its all rather useless if you can refill it all every two minutes anyway. well, a sequel is being released for the ps2 soon, i hope it will be as impressive with fixed gameplay.
Way of the Samurai: have you ever wondered if it would be cool if in a beat em up you could walk around from battle area to battle area and do more with your character then just fight equal enemies? well this is the one game where you can see that it would totally rock. it has a kick ass sword fighting system, very nice looking areas and loads of story branches to explore. anyone who doesnt apreciate the game doesnt take it for what it is: a beatemup game (where your sword defines your fightingstyle) with lots of goodness going on in between so you never get bored. i hope that i can get my hands on part 2 some day. It was okay... I don't remember anything that spectacular about it.

i've always thought that and there was a PD mod for half life at one point, don't know what happened to it though. and it's a pain to config PJ64 for FPS controls w/ keyboard and mouse on goldeneye/PD (turok was worse in that reference). as for underrated games, the fallout series (i mean 1+2 - the RPG's, not tactics and POS on consoles)
