Anyone here use the Wavebird?
I'm considering getting one of these controllers for my Gamecube, and I'm just wondering if anyone here uses it and what their opinion of it is.
It looks pretty big (not original X-Box controller big, but you get the point - besides I find the original GC controller to be too small) and it has no rumble facility due to using batteries, but I'm curious to how it "feels" and generally if it is better than the original wired controller. Thanks in advance. |

I bought a wavebird middle of last year for my GC and I have to say it was a worthy buy. The controller is chunky in the middle but it is located in an area that does not effect how you handle the controller. The controller feels exactly the same as my wired controller except a l'il heavier and no rumble but i can't say I notice these things.
I bought this for kicking back and relaxing on the sofa/bed and playing some GC in extreme comoft and the controller passes with flying colours. |

I've heard they're good. Still...can't beat the 360 wireless controller, though. :P

I really like mine, Electronics Boutique sells them used for under $20...
Just remember to turn it off when you aren't using it! I know its easy to drain the batteries if you aren't careful, keep extras on hand, you don't want to be in a gaming competition like I was and get schooled because the batteries died on your controller... I might buy another one, a backup is always good. I prefer it to the "original" controllers...

It's not big, it's the same size as a regular controller. It just has a lot of extra bulk. I wish that they made a bigger GC controller.
The Wavebird was excellent for its time--FINALLY a decent first party wireless controller, with excellent range, to boot. Unfortunately, it has no rumble, and as mentioned, it's bulky. If you plan to play GC games more than 6 feet from the console, this is a must-buy item. The original GC cord is ridiculously short, I can't even sit on my couch comfortably whilst holding that thing. |

The lack of rumble would I imagine have a part to play in that.Despite it's size though the Wavebird is a surprisingly light controller, probably on par with the 360 pad. |
