Imported games should...

Have an option to listen to the original voice acting . There's so much room left on the PS2 DVD discs that it makes me gag. Surely they can fit both the native language and english language voice dialogues? It's not a huge issue, but gameplay is slightly ruined with awful voice acting...

I say we make it a law!

You do realise that Sony doesn't want you to import PS2 games and that making them appealing to importers...

In fact, most gaming companies, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, don't want you to import games. IIRC only the GBA and maybe DS allow you to import games...I don't know about the PSP...

In fact if they had their way, it'd be illegal...

i think what he's referring to is when a game reaches the western world for release, they do some really sucky english voice acting, when the japanese voice acting is much better, so hes suggesting they give you the option to use the original voices instead of available.

Are you sure it's maybe not because we don't actually understand what the hell they're saying? For all we know, they might be after school special acting.

Overall most Japanese voice acting has a lot of emotion put into the characters (sometimes too much) unlike the voice actors we hire to dub the Japanese oriented games are usually off. Also I have to think of video games as an interactive movie (no matter where they come from).

I would much prefer they leave the language in its original state than butcher it or make it "americanize" For example Magna Carta is a Korean based video game, I picked up the imported one from Korea and it was much better compared to the Japanese counterpart and it was worse for the English dubs.

I may not know a whole lot about the Korean language, but the voice actors from where it came from fits better than when they are dubbed. Now I am not saying all dubs are bad, but a good majority are not going to make me stand up and applaud them for their good acting.

When I was in Japan I watched Star Wars EP3 in their theater, it was English, but they had Japanese subtitles, they later came out with a Japanese dubbed one. All I have to say, it was not that great

Exactly! If any of you start or have played Phantasy Star Universe, Story Mode, you'll see what I mean. They have subtitles, but the dialogue is english. For the most part, the voice acting is actually nicely done, the cast they picked was all right...'cept the main characters. He's sounds like a flaming drunk...he slurs and when his voice gets "angry", he sounds like a retarded, flaming drunk who sounds incoherent.

Not only is the original voice acting better the majority of the time, the original dialogue is scripted to move along with the expressions and mouth motion. Too many games I've played with the "Godzilla" style, where the mouth moves completely independant of the english dialogue.

I don't know, they probably do. What I do know however, is that it has to be one of the most god-awful and irritating sounds ever.
