Do you ever forget a Final Fantasy?

The only FF I've ever played was Final Fantasy 9. However, the game is very interesting in that it has touched me in a way. I can't seem to forget it at all. As such, I enjoy listening to some of the songs (especially Kuja's Theme). I even try to play them on my piano.

So I brought in Kuja's Theme to my music teacher today and he played it on his piano. To my surprise, a few people recognized it and the game it was from. Other people were quite intrigued by the song and thought it was very eerie and cool. Some people have even been attempting to play it themselves.

So what does this mean? Is Final Fantasy more than just a game that we play? Do you ever forget a FF?

Well funny you mention it, one scene from FFX, for some odd reason, just remained in my head, for quite a long time i kept reviewing that scene over and over again in my head. Kind a silly i know

Its the scene where Tidus finds out for the first time that Yuna is supposed to die, the part where he says "Why? Why we're you hiding it? Why didn't i know?"

So i guess you can add me to that list, FF games do have unforgettable scenes that really touch you. Music wise though, FF didn't have any particularly music that hit me, perhaps FF8 opening song. One game which music did remain in my memory was Chrono Cross, i keep listening to the OST over and over again. Best OST ever

And there was me thinking I was the only one going crazy over FF9! I remember many scenes from my first Final Fantasy and I dont think ill ever forget them.
One that sticks is the scene where Zidane runs past the brassband on his way to kidnapping Garnet. Maybe its the distortion in the music that made it stick!
Oh and I think I can rememeber the whole world map too

I probably wont forget anything in final fantasy 8, but one of the things i remember most that surprises me is the concert in the thunder plains in final fantasy x-2, and i have no idea why.

I can't really remember any of the 8 or 16-bit FFs... and I've played them twice each. I guess I wasn't too impressed by them. On the other hand, I'm sure if I were to play them again, things would "come back to me".

The heck is with Final Fantasy. There are other games out there.Get a RPG life please...

... though in all respect, I liked the scene when the mage twins sacrificed themselves (when they were transformed into rock) so that they would save your life back in Final Fantasy 4

My comments are similar to Exodus...... However, I do remember the basic outline of the stories in all of the FF's except 8... For some reason my memories of FF8 is the same as my experience when I'm drunk... Meaning I don't remember much....

I liked that scene since it meant they wouldn't be in my party anymore. Damn, I hate having kids and bizarre creatures in the group. Stupid Chu-Chu tried to ruin Xenogears.

blah... I found it inconvenient. I didn't mind much losing the white mage but I spent quite some time leveling up the black mage, so meh...

i agree with your Chu-Chu complex though

I don't give a fcuk for Final Fantasy. The only way to remember them is when I click on New Posts and I see a lot of threads on the PCSX2 forum about FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII.

I'm sure everyone has that complex. The last thing I want are damn pokemon cameos in a good RPG.

And more people should be anti-kid and anti-stupid creature. Think how much better games would be without them. No Cait Sith, no Eiko, no Chu-Chu, half the cast gone in Grandia, it'd be fan****ingtastic.

Kids can be a good asset at times though. Like the little girl with the gigantic robot in Xenogears

Bleh, you are all for the looks. I don't really care if I'm controlling a slim as long as it has more strength than whatever I'm facing

It's not just looks. Think about it... how logical is it to have a kid that's as strong as the main character? I know it's a common thing in anime, but well, you know about my feelings for anime... I'm also reminded about Emeralda ... Xenogears still pulled it off even with its half-annoying cast. Good thing she grows up, and that Maria and Chu-Chu were useless.

I wouldn't put Maria's gear as useless though

Then again, I agree with you on the young people save the world story department... but hey, story is not the main thing I seek in a game so I guess it doesn't bother me as much.

But for an RPG? If not for story, all you're left with is battle system, and usually they abuse the random battles so much that even that gets on your nerves.

And while her gear wasn't useless, it didn't have any advantage over the others that I can remember.

Well as I said (implied) in the other thread what I seek in an RPG is the character mechanics they offer... maybe that's why I don't like games that are too story-focused like Legend of the Dragoon. I try to turn a blind eye when we are talking about a kid as long as (s)he has a (more or less) adult mind, but I've got to agree with you that kids that have their corresponding mental age give me the creeps whenever they are in my party. Unless they are powerhouses like Maria they are left into the realm of the forgotten party members.

And that's not something that's easy to do when they're the main characters... like in Grandia. The guy was 12 and the chick 14? I mean, come on. We're supposed to believe kids this age can do a damn thing in battle?

But yeah, we've effectively taken both threads in the same direction. Go us!

ive played all of them with the exceptions of crystal chronicals and XI (i dont like MMORPGS). my 2 favorites are VI and VII with IV and VIII following closely. i just got XII and at first i was hesitant to even try it due to my disliking of what square did with X-2 and the DS version of III, i also dont really like the direction the series is going in. but so far its is a really good game and im glad i decided to give it a go, im still in the very beginning and as from what ive seen the voice acting is much better than X's.

i ususally forget things that just arnt very intresting to me. i cant get into V and IX. i dont know why, they have some good moments but i just lose intrest in them. IX had to much humor in it, i couldnt take the game seriously when it attempted to be serious. V was imo too similar to IV, i felt it offered nothing new really, X-death was a villian that was too cliché. the music in VI and VII i can never forget. it was so well done, each song fit perfectly. i started with VI (III on the SNES), thats probably why i consider VI to be one of the better ones in the series. i dont consider them games either, they, like metal gear, have a real cinimatic feel to them, i think the story's could hold up well if they were done as a book or movie instead. the series isnt perfect, but they arnt considered the greatest RPG series in history for nothing.
