Silent Hill 2 (PC)

I'm posting this to find out about Silent Hill 2 (PC).

I just recently ordered this off of Amazon.com, although it hasn't arrived as of yet.

I own the PS2 version, but am unable to play it since I sold my PS2 (Actually it was my Brother's PS2, and my parents sold it).

I'm just wondering if the PC version is different from the PS2 version in any way, or if it's similar to "Restless Dreams" as seen on the Xbox.

I am also wondering if it will have about the same or better performance than Silent Hill 3 does on my PC.

Btw my PC has a Celeron D 330 2.66 Ghz, 1024 MB DDR Ram, and a BFG Geforce FX 5500 OC.

Thanks if anyone can let me know

It's identical to the "Restless Dreams" version.

Performance-wise, I've played it in my aging Athlon XP 2.8, with a GeForce FX5600, and it ran without a glitch. Although I think you'll have to download a patch to watch some of the FMVs correctly (I know I'd to download it - you can find it easily on Google).

Thanks for the fast reply, I really appreciate it

I've always wanted to play Restless Dreams, it's good to finally know that the PC version is Identical to the Xbox Version.

After Playing the first Silent Hill back when it first came out, the Second, third and fourth installments as well I Still don't get what the Silent Hill town is supposed to be, how it became a nightmare town and how certain people are drawn to it and it's evil.

I know it's because allesa is the mother of "God" (Satan), that the town becomes like that, but I don't quite get the full picture of the story behind the game.

The movie was ok, It was like the game in some respect, but the movie made it even more confusing than the actual game itself.

I've got the PC version sitting right next to me (selling it on ebay right now ). Recommended specs are 1Ghz w/ 128Mb RAM and 64Mb vram. It'll run perfectly even on your PC.

I don't think anyone knows for sure. There're plenty of theories on the net, but they're too speculative for my tastes. You'll find several of them on Gamefaqs, for instance.

I tend to be in line with slowbeef's assessement of the situation (regarding the original Silent Hill):

You can read his full review I love Silent Hill . His Silent Hill 2 review is also hilarious.

Do you know a place where I could get the full story of the series?
I don't mind the spoilers.

PC version is like XBox one. It adds Maria's sidestory and the UFO ending... maybe some extra weapons too, not sure

Thank you all so much, I appreciate your replies. I had a hell of a time finding this game for the PC.

I looked in EB Games, Walmart, Checked EB Games online Website, Other online Retailers, and it didn't occur to me to check and see if Amazon had it, just till a day ago

I planning on purchasing Silent Hill 2 (pc version), one question though about the game before I decide, does it have an outside configuration for graphics and controls just like the Silent Hill 3 for the pc. Just wondering though, please answer and thanks!

Nope, AFAIK both SH2 and SH3 have them inside the game. It's not ported as poorly as MGS2...

Sorry to quote you Mr. Killjoy, however as far as I know Silent Hill 3 allows you to configure the Resolution, Gamma, Controls, etc.... both inside the game and outside when you are not playing it.

However I have no clue if Silent Hill 2 (PC) allows you to do this as of yet.

Please don't send your hawt goth chick in you're avatar after me for quoting you ..... me shivers in fear and excitement

j/k however

Well, I'm quite sure it does have outside control, but maybe I'm wrong...

But I have played the demo version of SH3 and it does have the graphics and controls configuration outside the game not inside. I don't know if there is SH2 demo so I haven't tried it yet. Anyone of you who has SH2? Confirm this please, thanks?

I have both SH2 & SH3 for PC...
... and I confirm that SH2 does NOT have the option to configure res, gamma & rendering outside the game... in fact, the SH2 port is good but not as good as the SH3 one... (the shadows are too sharp & blocky... there are some random sound bug too...) In fact, Konami Tokyo wasn't completely satisfied with the SH2 port... that's why they decided to do the SH3 port themselves...

Fear not though... the game is really looking good (and AA from the gfx card is usable...)... it's just not as perfect as the SH3 one...
