I have played a lot of games in my time, and some of them obsessively.

But the only one I can label as "addictive" in my eyes was a little gem for the SuperNES known as Tetris Attack. Man I can never get tired of that.

I forgot to mention Diablo 2, while I played it once, I was freaking addicted to it.

Probably one of the most addicting games ever.

Definately, sometimes simply hack and slash with a nice stat building mechanism is all a gamer needs. And the ability to create nice weapons yourself. From that perspective it isn't that far off from Phantasy Star Online.

7 years!! What was it called?
I also got hooked on my first text game. I think I started off outside a castle and had to find the king and escape. I can distinctly remember golf balls being everywhere too!

The creators shadow. It was based on WOT series. Wow I miss it :S It was cancelled because people took the game too seriously. A couple of my friends got married through someone they met in the game, and some of them also became mortal enemies IRL....... kind of crazy. So when there was a change in the game there was no end to the flaming towards the guy who paid for the server and wrote the code in his spare time... kind of sad.

Hah, I remember when some Ryos, Strider, Caiphirina (sp?) a few others and I got hooked up on a Diablo 2 Marathon for like 7 hours or so. From scratch to end of easy mode. Was awesome but only because of the multiplayer component.

However, only game or rather saga I've remained a hardcore fan of is Lunar (both Silver Star and Eternal Blue and of course both Sega CD versions). Even up to this day I still play some scenes from time to time because the game is plain superb.

Yeah, even I went in for a little of that. Ryos was... Captain Suicide (or Kamikaze?) and you were a laggy Necro.

Multiplayer is probably the most important aspect of hack 'n slash games. Explains why my single player careers with them don't last long - except for D2 which even in SP lasted a long time. And hell, it's still installed.

Odd choices for some...guess for some people addictive and favorites are one in the same.

For us there are many...but our current crack addictions are the Gameboy Advance Castlevanias

This damn crack has ole DW trying to complete 100% of the dungeons, and trying to collect every damn enemy item drop. With hidden damn characters.

One even has us collecting furniture of all the damn things...to put in a room. It has no other purpose! Yet we still do it.

Now thats addiction folks
