Ffvii - Ps3

Does anyone know if the remake is actually coming or not yet?

Not another one of these posts.

The answer is, if it is required, what do you think? If FF7 were to be in the process of being remade on the PS3, I'm willing to bet that every major gaming website and every pissant fanboy would be splurging all over it. Not to mention there would easily be at least 250 (more) topics on these forums covering "OMG FF7 ON TEH PS3!!!111 FF7 WUD B SOOO GR8 ON TEH PS3!!!111" and topics along those lines.

Get like what? In my post I calmly and rationally pointed out the obvious: you'd know if FF7 was in the process of being remade on the PS3. It'd be everywhere.

Maybe, or maybe not. First off, I personally don't think that they are going to remake it, though I'd be happy if they did. But, imagine if they did announce that they were remaking it. It would take a great deal of time to remake, and it would anger a lot of people if there were delays, or if it didn't come out right away. Maybe they are secretly remaking the game right now, waiting until it is near completion to announce Probably not, but you never really know.

As for an answer to the question though, if it was announced, then yes, you'd certainly know!

Theres an interview of one of the devs on the Kingdom Hearts team where he spilled the beans about a FFVII remake so yes they were working on it. Theres also the matter of the tech demo, why remake most of the FFVII models to the White Engine? I'm betting there will be a remake, and its gonna remain very hidden for a few years.

Unless I hear Kitase himself saying that it's being worked on, then it's just the ramblings of a Kingdom Hearts dev.

The FF7 Tech Demo simply was that: a technical demonstration of the PS3's abilities. Tech demos come in many shapes and sizes, and the FF7 one was simply designed to grab people by the balls and to show off the PS3. Just like FF8 was chosen to show off the PS2. I never heard people saying that FF8 was going to be remade for the PS2 after seeing that tech demo.

If FF7 is to be remade for the PS3 then it just shows what kind of company Square is: a tired, money-hungry and lazy institution that has to cling to ten year old ideas to stay relevant. I think they'd be better focusing on FFXIII.

"Just like FF8 was chosen to show off the PS2."

Very good point I had forgotten about that.

"If FF7 is to be remade for the PS3 then it just shows what kind of company Square is: a tired, money-hungry and lazy institution that has to cling to ten year old ideas to stay relevant."

Well i see it has a company that cares about its clients. Most ppl, if not all that played FFVII, would buy and enjoy a decent FFVII remake, and those who haven't played it would have the chance to play on of the bests RPGs ever without having to buy a 10yr old game, and no not only fanboys would buy it. So i really don't see why should they be lazy if they we're to do a remake. They did a remake of FFIII for the DS and its selling quite well, no one complained about that.

We just got a Settlers 2 remake and everyone's happy about that one too

a lot of people never knew/played that game anyway.
It's probably not a remake to please the fans of FFIII, but rather the fans of FF in general (and smart they are, I'd say that audience is bigger!)
It also saves them on cooking up a new storyline.

But you won't catch bluebyte making Vista ports/duplicates of Settlers 1, 3 and 4

Quite simply because when you do a remake, there's nothing new. Creating a game, a role playing game especially, requires MASSIVE input before code is even cooked up. You have to develop ideas like characters, character development, storylines, the world, towns, maps, items, weapons, armours, the script, etc before you even think about anything else. And believe me, that's not an easy task (I know that for a fact, and I have 60,000+ words in a Word document to back it up.) For a company to turn around and say "to hell with that, let's just use a ten year old game's characters, character development, storylines, world, towns, maps, items, weapons, armours, and script instead" has laziness written all over it in big bold letters.

FFIII was originally only released in Japan though. There's a big difference.

Advent Children started as a mere demo and they had no intention into making it into a proper movie at the beginning. So it is feasible that the tech demo was simply thus.

That's what i meant, right now we're 2 generations ahead of FFVII, many ppl never played it either and its one of the best (if not the best) FF.

My point exactly, the made a remake of the best one, just like FFVII is the best one. And just like you and me will be getting the Settlers remake, many would be getting the FFVII remake, and many others would be playing it for the first time. I honestly don't see anything wrong with that.

Actually FFIII is the NA title, it was released as FFVI in Japan.

FF3, as in the third FF game made, was remade for the NDS. That is the game I'm talking about. It was never released outside of Japan.

As for FF6, it is being ported to the GBA. Not remade.

Yeah your right, i got a bit confused over here.

Still my point remains. If ppl ask for a remake, i don't see why it shouldn't be done.

Personally, I'd be like the maker of Chrono Trigger and refuse to make a remake. Instead I'd focus on new ideas. If people were to ask for a remake then it shows how much of a FF7 fan they are. If you like a game then you should like it for what it is originally.

Yeah but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to re enjoy the game even more. I mean, how many of FF7 fans replayed the game? I know i did, and i wouldn't mind replaying it again with better graphics and FMVs. Its not like there would be only remakes from now on, there will still be new titles (FFXIII).

Why are fans then not asking for remakes of FF4, 5, 6, 8 or 9 then? Maybe it's because they appreciate the games for what they are.

Personally, only games that never "made it first time" should be remade. As before, FFIII is a good example because it wasn't released outside of Japan.
