Thank you captain obvious. Games Consoles are designed for gaming, PC's are general purpose, of course consoles are going to be more preferred!!
Altho personally i prefer PC gaming. Just a note: if this thread does become a flame war as the OP is hoping for, it will be closed so keep it clean folks!

i prefere console for games, as it is designed mainly for gaming.
A pc is multi purpose, plus i don't have the hardware that lets me enjoy a game on pc to the fullest. But give me a powerful rig, then I am all for pcs.

That article seems to have been written by a guy who's run out of anti-PS3 crap to write. As in: some kiddie "journalist" trying desperately to warrant his position.
And, technically, since every console I have requires my PC so that they can work properly... I'm a PC gaming fan. ![]() Quote:

Meh... not even one thing I didn't know already.
And you know why I upgraded my pc? To play some PC exclusives such as NWN2. Exclusives make a system, and if you happen to prefer FPS or RTS games you will stick to pc, just like how a person will stick to the Playstation brand for RPG's. It's not even a matter of being comfortable or how much it costs really, it's all in the games.

Really it depends on the game. NOTHING will ever beat a PC for FPS gamming...plain and simple no controller will ever surpass the precise movement and control a Kb/Mouse combo offer....
now if it is a platformer, then a console is prefered.... |

Well the DC also had a keyboard + mouse, but it still wasn't able to beat PC's. Usually console versions of FPS' are crippled because of system limitations, less players, smaller levels, just to make sure the game runs acceptable. While with pc's those limits are higher because the hardware can be upgraded after the game has been released.
Perhaps this gen can somewhat close the gap when these games can be played with USB gear at a good framerate at hires. But then again, a console is usually installed near a tv and a couch, not the ideal place for a keyboard and mouse setup

That article was a joke, i prefer pc gaming, i had ps2 and gamecube, both totally ignore them, i just dislike to be sitting in front my tv, and with my computer i can be online the whole day play games, talk with my buddies at the same time lol...
Seriously i just prefer the mmorpg on pcs and all that kind of online games, like shooters, rts, rpgs, etc if you want to play plattaforms or jprgs you have consoles and thats it, even sports/racing games are already on PC, like the EA games(no comments about them), WE/PES series(awesome ones), even incoming virtua tennis coming to pc, all the good managers, etc, etc you just buy a controller and your setup. About the article, that person say he prefers consoles, bc he cant upgrade his system and thats acceptable, but if you arent short of money or you have a job, i dont find it an issue to be doing minior upgrades to your computer each year or 2 :P . so yeah consoles are the plattaform, but doesnt means its the best

Well, it depends on the country though, people in Asia definitely prefers console over pc. I can rarely find an above average video card for sale in HongKong lol

If my PC were up to date, and all the games I wanted to play were on PC, then I'd prefer PC gaming by far. But, consoles and PC excel in different genres. Since RPGs are more to my liking, consoles have the majority of them, and PC gets only a few. So, I guess console would win for that reason alone.

As stated many times now it's all about the games. I love my Dreamcast, I love my SegaCD games but what I've been playing for the last year and 9 months is Everquest 2 and there is nothing that comes close to a real MMORPG on consoles. Plus consoles don't have Baldur's Gate or Fallout.
If you are thinking of using FFXI or PSU as examples of "MMORPGs" on consoles please just spare yourself of a big enlightening post. |

pc gaming is really good cause you can always make old games look better with new hardware. and backwards compatibility is almost never an issue. consoles are good for there get up and go value though. wish pcs were more get up and go.

D&D turn based BG (PC) != console BGs. Not saying the later is worst or better, they are just completely different approaches and thus not comparable.
Consoles have a few titles based on the Baldur's Gate franchise, they don't have PC Baldur's Gate titles. |
