Exodus you still play NWN?

I know NWN 2 is coming out soon and I'm really excited about that. But I recently installed Never Winter Nights again and decided to try out some of the newer toolset functions of the newer expansion packs. I stopped playing NWN before the two expansions came out so I am hoping it'll keep me busy for a while.

Do you still play?

I think he maybe doing this in the sake of finding more people to play NWN

Or also, it can be an inner attempt to simply say "I'm still alive everyone "
Which also reminds me. Does anyone of the NGEmu clan still plays Gunz? I returned to play again since a while but not for long times. Back in the day, I still remember Player-X used to own us

I thought about doing a private message. I didnt see anything paticular private about the discussion though. I figured there was also a slight possibility that others might be interested in Neverwinter Nights as well. So I went ahead and posted it in the public gaming forum. It seemed like it was on topic place for such a discussion ><

I tried it but I found the DnD ruleset a little unwieldy for a PC game with multiple characters on screen compared to the Dungeon Siege series

The D&D Ruleset can be a bit inhibiting unfortunately. I think it mainly hurts spell casters with the being able to cast so many spells a day ect, I have always preferred Mana systems where spells cost a total amount of mana in respect to your overall pool. Though I felt the original campaign was pretty good. I am messing around with Hordes of Underdark while I retune my modding skills. The games toolset is still IMO its strongest feature.

The original campaign in NWN sucks... Tried to play it and before chapter 2 it had lost my interest because of the lack of interesting quests and characters. If you want an interesting quest I recommend Baldur's Gate if you haven't played it already because it is simply more fun with more variety in quest types.

NWN shines in multiplayer when you have a good DM and a nice team to (role)play with.

That said, I've played NWN a lot a couple of months ago, but removed it some time ago. I am planning to pick up NWN2 as soon as it comes out.

What kind of player are you Chris? A roleplayer, a powergamer looking for action, or something in between?

Depends really. The beauty of NWN is that you can do just about everything. I'm actually more of a builder than a player though. I am one of those people who spends hours behind the toolset making the most detailed, immersive, and beautiful enviroments I can. Some of my modules have been based on roleplay, others have been me trying to recreate a MMORPG enviroment. ((IE respawning self sustaining world)).

Thats why I am looking forward to Neverwinter Nights 2. It'll let me expand upon that. I just hope Bioware implements some better scripting enviroments into the default toolsets. Such as better respawn material ect. Hopefully NWN2 will have a great community like neverwinter vault which will keep a mod database ect. I'm really looking forward to it.

I didnt mind the original campaign. My big problem with the original campaign is it was very linear and it didnt allow good/evil decisions. And the story was kinda drab in chapter 2, It does pick up by chapter 4, quite a bit when you return to NWN with it under siege. The aribeth betrayal helps a great deal too. I consider myself a roleplayer and adventurer, I enjoy adventuring and discovering new areas. Roleplaying. But my unfortunately discouragement with roleplaying social mods is just not enough effort goes into the design of them. I feel for a world to be worth roleplaying in it. Must be immersive and there must be some storyline. And even better add some conflict and a purpose to the world.

Ahh listen to me go

Chris

No, can't say I still play it. I put the long lived game to rest back when I got my PS2 a couple years ago. I did try to play the campaign recently but failed miserably to get into it.

NWN2 is something I'm looking forward to. This time around I'll probably be on the modding side of things as me and some guild people I met in NWN will be working on it. Here's hoping we do a good job and the server does well.
