New Shenmue online video

A new Shenmue online video has been released some time ago and I couldn't find a thread about it here so I thought you guys might have missed out on it.

I just watched it and I definately want to try it, but I'm afraid it will suck

The video also shows some story 'spoilers', a darned shame, especially if this is the direction the series is heading. The battle system reminds me of a game I've seen some time ago, namely Silkroad, or Rose Online. I had hoped for some nice martial arts, it turns out to become some kind of 13 in a dozen system featured in every single free MMORPG out there. Just create combos till either you or your enemy drops to the floor, no skill, just mashing out the combos as fast as possible.

On top of that there is also magic in it, WTH

I already freaked out a bit when seeing the ending of Shenmue 2 bringing some mystic stuff into it, but it still felt okay. But seeing players hurl fireballs and lightning bolts at each other makes me vomit...

What happened to what made Shenmue so special? What about martial arts, why not have massive brawls, that will end with a couple of characters who have to go head to head where they can show off their real skills, instead of just brawling? A huge battle like the 70 man battle as it took place in the first chapter?

I'm still eager to try this game, I hope it will suck less than this video makes me think it does. This ain't Shenmue, to me it feels more like that Zelda the Wind Waker MMORPG

Magic? In Shenmue? This is Nonsense! The reason that I bought and played Shenmue 1 in the first place is because of its realistic environment and interactivity, why would they want to destroy that?

Horrible battle style, it is not Shenmue

At least, Sega can release a version for any console, not only PC. Also, I hope that this game will not be released only in Korea and China :S

You can find some screenshots at Shenmue Dojo plus a translation of the above mentioned spoiler which seems to be the background for SO. People are upset (and rightly so) about the direction this is going...and to be honest, Shenmue III has as much chance of seeing a release as Lunar 3 does.

Just visited the Shenmue Dojo this morning. One thing that stuck in my mind when reading their forums is that whenever Shenmue online might be a succes, it 'might' raise the chances of seeing a Shenmue 3. Then again, the game does need to be released in the west, and I doubt it will be a succes here seeing how WoW is dominating the market, and I doubt Shenmue stands a chance against it.

I'll probably end up rejecting this part as related to the story, kinda how I still haven't accepted Advent Children as a part of FF7

but in case it doesn't people can try out Yakuza as sort of a spiritual successor i guess
