Good storyline, maybe one of the bests from the series, but not the best storyline of all times, and Sephiroth's not the best villain ever.

Personally (just opinion), I think ff10 and ff8 's storylines are better than ff7. Though, I really like how they created Sephiroth and its probably my favorite villain in all the final fantasies

I think FFVIII had a more sophisocated and mature story.

Funny because when I played it for the first time, I thought the story stank and didn't make sense. But that was when I was 16 and perhaps I was just expected another teen angst rpg like FFVII.

But now that I'm in college I actually prefer the more grown up FFVIII storytelling. I also now dislike FFVII: advent children for trying to go for the teen angst feeling which I like when I was younger but is just stupid to me now.

FF6 hits you on so many different levels. The main characters all have their own storylines that add so much to the game.

Final Fantasy VIII has a more mature storyline but I don't think that you can bond with the characters. They are really immature(except for Edea of course). And I see that nobody has even mentioned FF9...It is part of the series whether people like it or not

FF9 brings nothing memorable to the series compared to the Holy Trinity of 6, 7 and 8. Except for extremely slow battles.

Personally I found Melfice a pretty damn good villain, from Grandia 2, but it also helped that the voiceacting made some great scenes even better.

Best villain in my opinion is Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2, compared to him Sephiroth is an emo kitty (the other word got censored) The only word to describe Irenicus is 'cold', even his voice at times gives you a nasty feeling in a way. But you have to play the game to experience it.

Best villain is Ghaleon from Lunar series, no contest
second would probably be Luca Blight from Suikoden 2, that guy is pure evil.

and Im not sure if I think FF7 has the best storyline out of all FFs but its certainly the most enjoyable game in the series.

FF7 and 10 probably have the best storylines. In FF8 I found everything to be too... coincidental. "We're all from the same orphanage!" Pretty lame, if you ask me and the plot felt a little dragged out. I honestly can't remember much about FF6 or FF9, so that might say how good I found them. They were all enjoyable though.

All in all, I think the only villain that's every actually pissed me off was "the masked man" (won't say his name for spoilerific reasons) from Suikoden 3.

I have to say I like FF7's story line the best in the series, and the best in any game (that I've played). I have a whole collection of RPG's I haven't finished yet, and I've been trying to get them done one at a time. None of them are going to knock FF& out of its place though, as it holds a personal place in my heart (can't believe I played it so many years ago). FF8 was amazing as well though, and I personally like 5 as well. I never liked ff9 though, as there was just nothing about it that pulled me in. Guess I just didn't want to role play some young looking rat boy I also enjoyed 10 though (thank goodness).
