Completed HL2 Episode1 in 4 1/2 hours

Wow!

HL2 episode 1 is....what can i say.. lovingly crafted, the production quality is top notch, and for $20 i have to recommend it, even though it was short i came away smiling and cant wait for hl2 ep2.

even though it is short i HIGHLY reccomend it because the whole thing oozes quality, its the same price as a 2 hour DVD in the uk, and most people will get 4-6 hours from this game, i wish it was a longer game but it doesnt lose many points with me for being short.

If i had to give it a score i would say 88% because of length.

My Steam gace me a pop-up saying this had downloaded... I played it, took my time, examined the finer qualities of it, left it on during lunch, and got 7 hours.

What? Only 4 1/2 hours long. I'm pretty sure Half Life 1 is much more longer than HL2. That's the reason I didn't like HL2 again. It just give an Eyecandy look but not an enjoyment gameplay. What a shame

Have you even played HL2?! It's not just a graphics showcase, the physics and gravity gun alone give HL2 some extremely fun gameplay. Plus we're talking about HL2:EP1 here not HL2 itself.

Get the facts straight before you start ranting like a complete moron...

Anyway, even if it's not very long, it's a must buy for an HL fan like myself. I can't wait to see what minor details of the story have been revealed. I'll probably end up buying HL2:EP1 and SiN Episodes at the same time since I still haven't gotten around to buying SiN...

Uh...
HL2 was one of the few games that were fun, for every single minute throughout the whoel game. That is... unique, to say the least.
Eevry new part in the game was totally different from everything that came before, so im really not sure what youre getting at.
I just wonder if HL2 Ep1 is the same way...

Im on my first 4 hours and im absolutly LOVING it. Source engine never stops to amaze me, they've done some SERIOUS improvements in HDR, it doesnt even lag anymore while the lost coast demo lagged like mad . Playing it at 1280x1024 with 4xAA everything maxed.

The first hour of the game was the best so far and worth the $20 right away. It slowed down a bit after that but it was still great and now its starting to get awsome again.

They also done major improvements in AI and the interaction between models. Thats a new for HL1/2. The way Alysx Interacts with DOG and when fightning the enemys is great. As for the AI, they've used HDR data to improve the AI, remember how in lost coast you could see a graphic on how your eyes were adjusting to the lightning? Im sure they're using that for the AI, try pointing the flashlight in a dark area to alyxs, you'll see her covering her eyes, then do it again on a brighter area and she won't do anything.

Im stunned on the quality of the game. Ill give it a 95% so far.

Well gonna finish the game

I for one cannot stand HDR, but any improvement on AI is good to hear.

HL2 is one of the few games where HDR isn't exagerated and its well done

Meh from where I stand, it's just another step on the road to games that just make things too visually based. But yes, I'll admit Valve does a good job with it and pretty much pioneered its use.

I have absolutely played HL1 and HL2 before and have finished it already. Yes, I know they added a marvelous physics engine which you can use your gravity gun to toy them wherever you like. But which this feature makes the weapons less type than HL1 and also the bullets is also very limited Example Rocket launcher has only carry 1 amunition, on HL1 it could carry more than 1. Creature are also fewer than HL1, you always engaging human opponent more on HL2 even the last Boss

I hope Expansion EP1 will change my mind but after seeing only 4 1/2 long. Well, sadly It can't be help.
I didn't try to bring bad this game but the way I see it didn't seems to be good as HL1 anymore.
