Lightbulb About sony stealing...

right think about it motion sensitive controllers have been out since PSX. yes they didnt work that well with the games becuase games wasnt optimised for them. nintendos revolution aka WII realy isnt that revolutionary becuase motion sensitive controllers have been around for ages but the software hasnt been optimised for them properly. Now i admit it seem like sony is stealing the idea but either way a motion sensitive PS3 controller would of came out eventurlly. i think people will get bored of waving a controller/remote around and think i just wanna play the game and push button. this is why sony controller is better you have the choice what you want to do. think about it you come home from work are tired you just wanna play mario from where you left off but dont wanna be waving controllers about....

one more thing about the price of the ps3 i think thats a good price becuase a standalone blue ray player cost $999 and upwards and the sony one at $999 dollars dosnt even play CD's!!

close, the motion detection was actually out for the Atari 2600, so you are talking late 1980 to early 1990.

its not a sony, nintendo or microsoft invention, but Atari

I think that they're only stealing in terms of the features that each console has in the current nextgen console race. Everyone knows that Sony wouldn't have made the controller if Nintendo didn't make theirs first. But you're right, motion sensitive controllers or devices have been out for a while and I don't know why Nintendo thinks it's innovative. I think I'll like the PS3's controller better though. I know that there were times when I've played games and leaned the controller (I think that everyone has done this) in racing games when going fast around a sharp corner thinking that it will somehow help. With the PS3 controller, it finally will.

everybody makes their own version of everything.

they all had analog sticks
all 3 companies had made motion sensing of some sort (MS has the freestyle pad) and omg, all 3 companies have had cameras! fancy that.

seriously, stealing each others ideas isnt new, its been done for years, it heats up the competition, they just make it look slightly different and give it a fancier name.

That's what every new or casual gamer does (my sister on Mario Kart 64 especially ). It's like squeezing down hard on buttons on a TV remote that's ran out of battery power: Just a normal (if retrospectively stupid) reaction. As you said, it's going to take that reaction and put it to some use.

I'm looking forwards to the Sony controller, especially since it's gonna make playing console FPS games a lot better. Imagine this: instead of a stick to look and turn, just move the controller. Use one stick for movement, and the other for, say, giving orders to friendly AI or selecting weapons/items.

i think stealing is the wrong word everyone.

you act like it is a law that says only the maker can use it... and if that was true nobody this day would have doors because the guy who invented doors was the only one allowed to make them and he died eternities ago and i don't even know the name...

and also, would that also mean that the very concept of a controller pad is stolen by all consoles from the first one using controllers? and wouldn't that also mean that only nintendo isn't breaking that law on the data disks they keep the games on? (nintendo uses the slot thing instead of cd/dvd)

Sony isn't stealing anything. It's childish to claim that they are. They have the better console, just let it go.

It's even more childish to attack people who claim that they do

All I need to say is right here

yeezus... going on about sony stealing ideas for gamepads and stuff and denying to buy sony's ps3 because of that is like saying you refuse to buy a ferrari because they didn't originally come with the idea of cars, or refuse to get doors from your lokal door manufacturer because they didn't come with the idea of doors and so on and so forth...

it's called COPYING

NOT stealing

The only thing that's allowed to being called 'stealing' is the fact companies don't even calculate between the currencies, and Sony adding only 2 controller ports to their console.
