This is an obscure freeware game circa 2000, feel free to ignore the thread if you haven't heard of it. Fyi it looks kinda like something squeezed out of RPG Maker. Okay, so the site expired and there seems to be nothing else on this game, only a scattered bunch of download links and a few one-liners that mostly just quote the HOTU review. No hints, comments, nothing. It's like this game was just pushed out, and then Mr. Takamoto disappeared. Oh, there's been a sighting at some Nifty serv addr, but I don't think he cares anymore about this game. I played this back in '04 and remember getting stopped just before the final by a bug. Well guess what, got bit by another one about 3/4 way through - if you don't do things in a certain sequence, a door you need to go through gets locked again. Stupidly I only used one save slot >_> (yeah I know)... but I'm not about to wade through the 15+ hours I wasted on this thing again anytime soon. It's a pretty crap game, I was only going through it to observe the stat-up system (it doesn't use character levels). A few more tidbits here and there, but on the whole largely forgettable. What pisses me off is... not knowing the ending. I read everything. Even in mindless FP shooters, I look for the story, what little there is of it. I ditch the latest $60 whizbang RTS for an Ultima-clone that boasts 300k of text. Hell, I even read fanfiction. And I actually enjoyed Doom's infamous "page o' text" ending (for the sense of closure, if anything). Which is why not knowing the ending to this game is eating me up inside I'm putting this thing away, but I just know, months later, some perverse impulse will make me reinstall it and see if, IF I can finally complete it. If anyone out there happens to have played this to the finish, please post how the ending goes... even if it is just another "page o' text".

Hmm, I think I was either at the end boss or was by the end boss. I think there was a bug release of MW that you didn't get before the site went down (understandable, it happened just before it went down) that addressed the situation you're talking about. I went to the boss and got my butt handed to me though, so I just sort of stopped playing. If I ever get around to replaying it and finish it, you'll be the first to know.

Looks like I'll never know the ending, then. I don't suppose you have the bug-fixed version? Anyone? ... sigh. Oh well, seeing how cliched most of the story was, I suppose it was another happily-ever-after thing.*is being gnawed at on the leg by the need to know the ending*
