X-Box 360 questions
I bit the bullet just an hour ago and ordered an X-Box 360 from e-bay, with no games. I'm going to buy one tomorrow, still not sure which though. I have 4 questions, first off, if I were to buy a used game would I have issues with playing online? ie - is there a PC style serial code for each game that can only be registered to one online ID? does the X360 use some form of identifying discs and binding them to certain account? I seem to half remember reading something along those lines somewhere a while ago... but that could have been the PS3... and was quite probably rubbish information. Second, I did hear that you can't play online without an HDD, is this just refering to the downloadable content or is it required to just play games online too? The hard drives are way overpriced, is it possible to stick in an IDE or SATA one or do I have to shell out £80 for a 20 gig HDD? Also, Which games would you recomend? I have a friend who has Perfect Dark and Dead or Alive so I could get a loan of them anyway. Apart from that all I can think of is Call of Duty 2 or Quake 4, the only problem being that I had planned on getting them for the PC in the near future, and I suspect they would be more fun to play with a mouse and keyboard. I realise I probably should have done some research BEFORE buying the thing ![]() Any help appreciated ^^ |

well the only thing you need the hdd for is to play xbox games. but you will need at least a memory card to save and to get on xbox live. o and hdd other than the one from M$ are read only so about the only thing you can do with it is play mp3s.

the HDD has the code (or however they're doing it) to play the original X-Box games.

you do not need a hdd in any way to play 360 games you just need it for the original xbox games but you do need at least a memory card to save 360 games saves and to get on xbox live. PS: O and for games I have doa4 and me and my friends are lovin it we got it about 70% unlocked so far. Its really alot harder than the older ones at least i think so.

1. There is no such security system in place at the moment. You can safely go to EB or your preferred used game retailer and buy any used game. 2. You need some sort of memory device in order to go online. Whether it's the $40(I guess somewhere around £25-35) 64mb Memory card or the $100(£80 as you stated) 20gb HDD (You can't use the majority of the 20gb though, it's reserved for the system). 3. You must use the HDD for the Xbox unless you can somehow fashion your own connectors and have the technical knowledge to get it working with XBL (Simply: No). 4. As of right now there isn't really any great game that you need to have. I have DOA4, PGR3, and COD2. Out of the three, PGR3 is probably the best but only relatively speaking. It gets boring quite fast. I can only recommend DOA4 if you're really into fighting games and COD2 is one of those 'you beat it once and never play it again' type of games. Just hold out for Oblivion... |

I already decided which one I'm gonna buy after a bit of research, unfortunately I forget the name right now... Kameo or something... I might as well pick up an HDD too, I'll have to get one eventually, no point wasting money on a memory card just to use it for a short time. |

XBOX 360 is a very new, fresh console. If I were to buy any console (especially xbox 360) i'd wait for a few months...maybe close to half a year/a year, before I purchased it....it would be a good indicator of the success of the console and it's software. r2rX
