Grandia 2 PC Hard Mode Mod

I've been thinking about making one..
I know pretty much all the files to edit to make one its just a question of how much people actually want one...

So, What do you think? Should I bother or are there not many people that would actually want one?

Can you make a DC one?

I'm interested in what you are able to do with the game. Why not make it for yourself to see if you are able to do so. Put the patch online and see how many people are interested after you did it

Yea, it should be quite possible that the mod would be Multiplatform.

Although I no long own the DC version, from what I can tell the file formats are the same. Though to be sure I would need a listing of the files on/in the DC Disc.

As long as the files are the same it should work. (for PS2 also)

PS2 version of hte game is so god awful ugly I don't wish anyone to play it (slowdown, ugly textures, its nasty...really). I wouldnt wish playing it upon my worst enemy.

I'm not down and out, Grandia II I played on DC -- it was nice looking. I recently bought it on PS2 just to check it out and my eyes bled for a week straight. Perhaps the DC version isn't as pretty as I recall, but it certainly wasn't as ugly as PS2 version. It shouldn't have even been made. But it is nice that I'll be able ot have all the Grandia games on one platform (PS2, Grandia, Grandia II and Grandia III).

Well it seems all the health to all the enemies can be changed, but no matter how high I set them the enemies will all die quickly to the REALLY overpowered magic of the game ... =P

Though I'll counteract the magic strength by halfing the amount of MC & SC you get from winning battle, It should help somewhat....

Here is an example Image showing modified HP:

What stats are you allowed to change? Stuff like magic defense and physical defense would be nice to boost alonside more HP, giving you longer battles, while at the same time not becoming weaker or having to fight more battles.

I've been able to modify:

IP Bar Image
Hit Points
Move speed
Agility
Defense(cant change this much near the begining of game, you take 0 damage =P )
EXP Earned
SC earned
MC Earned
Gold Earned

Thats pretty much it right now. I've been trying to find the element resistances for the enemies and raise them so every spell doesnt kill eveything in one shot. =p

I would love to hear how you are actually able to do these things, would it be possible to write a tutorial on how to do these things?

Will do, just have to finish up my final testing and then I'll explain how i did it all. =P

I've decided on 3x HP.

I've been playing through and it seems it 'may' ok, but some battles at awhile. Which may or may not be a good thing...

Also:

As you may or mat not know alot of dreamcast games used AFS files to store most of the games data. Just using a AFS viewer you can see most of the enemies' files. I just did it the good'o genesis hacking way. Modify ONE byte at a time untill I find something changed. When I do I go back and record the Hex address and go on.. =P

Simple if you have some Hex experience.
