And it came out near the end of the year. I knew it was going to be popular.

Never underestimate the power of the force... of idiots with money.

EDIT: I've looked up UK game sales statistics for this discussion. According to ELSPA, the top ten selling (multi-format and based on units sold) games in the UK were:

1 FIFA 06- EA Sports
2 Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - Konami
3 Need for Speed: Most Wanted - EA Games
4 Gran Turismo 4 - Sony Computer Entertainment
5 Star Wars EP III: Revenge of the Sith - LucasArts
6 FIFA Street - EA Sports
7 Star Wars: Battlefront II - LucasArts
8 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Rockstar
9 King Kong: Official Game of the Movie - Ubisoft
10 The Sims 2 - EA Games

All in all the revenue from all games was apparently around £1.35 billion. Not too shabby.

My first reaction: Wow, the biggest selling games in the US and UK seem to be mere updates of their previous releases... Now that doesn't mean they are bad games, but it does show that original games are by far not as popular as the mainstream gaming fodder.

I fear the worst for Nintendo's new console in these two regions

I think it's because the series games already have a following, esp the sports market. It really is pretty big.

Warez talk is against the rules here. It's one thing to import a game, it's another to download it. First warning for you.

WTF, take a look at those prices

$45,- for new games?!

Correct me if I'm wrong but usually PS2 game prices are hovering between 60 and 65 EUROS :S
