It has wireless 802.11x support for this purpose. Whether or not it will be able to browse the net, rather than just play online games I don't know. My guess would be that some sort of browser would be included with it for simple web browsing.
According to Sony your PS3 will be able to work as a web server in a low-power consuming mood, or you can even use it as your own radio/picture station, and connect to it from anywhere in the world... so if you believe the hype YES it'll very much be internet enabled.

Microsoft didnt put in 360 a blu-ray device because it's too expensive(i heard 100$ by the moment) , the media is more expensive ,and there is more space to fill so the games will be more expensive.I suppose the dev's that are working both on 360 and PS3 will fill the gap with more prerendered CG(like in nin64 vs PSX ). And hey, while it's still not impossible to optimize 6 threads in 360(3 CPU*2 thread) ,in the PS3 there are 7 processing units, and they are different ,which very complicates the things. And while Hideo kojima may use every flop possible, Tomb Rider and Fifa will still look and play like PSX

That depends on the developer, the actual DVD/CD/Bluray discs seem to be inexpensive to manifacture when comparing the prices of originals and bootleg stuff here

The cost of the games are mostly the cost of development of the game and the royalties not the meterial used to make the media so the blu ray may be RM4 to make but the cost of the machinery ued to make it and the royalties if Sony ownd the patent will add quite a bit of cost to it cost to it, the rest if paying for what's on the disc

Player X pretty much got it nailed. Sony and Phillips had CD technology on lock, and allowed Sony to produce CD games cheap (One reason why Nintendo flaked on CD gaming..no way for them to gain royalties). Sony was also part of the DVD consortium = cheap games (Microsoft had to charge for DVD movie playback and could not match Sony's $19.99 Greatest Hits price line).

Sony is also a big player with Blu-Ray...So games may not be that expensive either. Then again we predict that Sony will bring PS3 in at a price that will hurt their pockets, and may hope to make up the difference by charging a little extra in royalties to game developers...this translates to games costing a little extra for the consumer

It's unfortunate that no one has developed a sucessful open source low cost media storage solution

It's simply too much money in it, what if there was a good open-source format? sony for example would still push it's own format ( a lot of movies and games comes from them ) Toshiba would too etc etc, so it'd be hard for the open format to gain any ground.

When PS3 comes out I'm officially giving up PC gaming, the main reason I love PC gaming is because of the very high resolutions, the graphics are also usually better, but the best thing is the resolutions, and with PS3 have 1080p (1980x1080 resolution) as a STANDARD then that will take away the one advantage PC has always had, I also need to save money to buy an HDTV and a PS3, plus games, after buying all that I wont have enough money to upgrade my PC in a long time.

And I pick PS3 because, well, I'm a huge RPG fan and neither GC nor Xbox ever had enough RPGs to satisfy me, and PS3 will continue the tradition of having great RPGs like PS1 and PS2.

argh...we just clicked on the PS3 controller just to read what the heck it says. This thing is freakin grotesque. We care not about Sony and their little squabble concerning Rumble technology. The feature is built inside the controller and should have no bearing on the external design.

The fact it has the exact same button layout simply tells us that Sony is smoking crack. No you could argue that we have never got our hands on it..so we won't know what it plays like. We can attest to playing with a 3rd Party boomerang shaped PSOne controller. It belonged to a friend...and yes it sucked

The fact that it has the exact same button layout means they're smart. The layout is brilliant it doesnt need changes. What more would you need if it already does all it should?

The controller sure sucks, but by the look of it, it does seem really difficult to play with...

anyway, even the x360's controller looks way sick>

looks like both ps3 and x360 will have stupid controllers!
