Tell me about it

I got some hope when I switched my desktop resolution to 800x600 16bit, the same resolution the game uses. Now I was able to move around with my mouse before it crashed a little later

Second attempt just a minute ago gave me more hope, I could make it to the character creation screen... where it crashed

Could it be my video card having some hardware errors or something? I remember having the same **** with Morrowind whenever I used some plugins making the visuals more intense.
Even though this game should be a breeze for my system, it ran perfectly fine on a 2600+/256ram/R9200 which is what my brother used to play this on.

Edit: Only once I got a message of VPU recovery, but that was only once, 9 out of 10 times I need to turn my computer of.

Check your graphics settings in your control panel and put everything to default, just in case you have tampered with 'em (like force Zxx buffers etc...)

Only in the hands of very skilled user. You will get yourself killed with it quite fast when shooting around aimlessly. If you kill yourself, you will lose EXP and wont get good points in scoreboard. Stay close to one who uses rockets. Even if he kills you, he wont get any points from you if he dies too. If both survives, you can take rocketeer down with few sword slashes or good pointblank shots.

There's practically no uber-cheap tactics in this game. Only problem are hackers who cheat...

Alright, I tried some really old drivers which came with the 9200, ATI Catalyst 3.8, and now I got the game working. I was able to get ingame, and play a few games, but after that it locked up again, monitor going black meaning there's no video signal. I could hear the gameplay though but I wasn't able to do anything cause my computer wouldn't respond.

I'm sure it's a video problem now, anyone here playing it on a Radeon, and if so, what drivers are you using?

Try Omega drivers? Remember to uninstall ATI control panel before installing it though...

I would like to but I want to know some exact version numbers so I can pinpoint to what the problem might be (hardware defunct?). I've come to the point that I am only going to try this once more cause I've been trying for hours now and it's getting me pretty frustrated.

your monitor switching off is a sign of unsupported refresh rate, try changing the resolution or using a program thats forces a specific refresh rate supported by your monitor.

I can hardly imagine that, it's running at stock speed, while the guys in Kenya have been using it overclocked till max with unlocked pipes while using stock cooling, without any problem. Also I don't know what the costs will be for new cooling on my card, but I don't feel like spending too much atm, as I'm kinda broke

@ Caip: I hope ATItool has got it as that one is still on my HD somewhere. I'll try it

Thanks for the advice.

EDIT:

Caip, thank you alot for the suggestion, I was able to finish a game, and I didn't do so bad if I'd say it myself (check screenshot ), and that was after 2 suicides as well

I'm now on level 14. Any one who reaches level 10 is welcomed in the caln. But as I said before I can't form a clan alone, I need 3/4 others to form it. So the quicker youguys reach level 10 the qicker that clan gets to life.

Btw what channel are you guys at? I'm usually in the channels for level11 to 20 that's why I don't see you.
