I'm not saying FFVII was a great game. Yet, the sales in PSX's double after the realease. This was due to many "Fanbased" people showing off the games CG quality graphics. The also large list of more public oriented hits helped keep them afloat.

The CDI failed on the level of price over reality. The PSX while still high priced had a little bit more reasonable factor. This was also about the time Wal-mart started kicking into it's more fully functiong gaming sections. It wasn't uncommon to go to Wallyworld and see a Saturn and PSX hooked up side by side. The n64 ...well that's in it's own little world I like to think.

You know, worldwide sales of N64 are far superior to Saturn sales...

I've always felt to never clump the 64 into the scheme of psx and saturn. The n64 is a great system and had a nice if a little lacking on the lineup scale. It's like comparing Metroid with Half-life and Halo...yea there all First-person shooters in essence, but ol'Met be something that comes touches your heart in a different way..

Anyone remember Alex...

Just think of a 2007 release of him.

I still want to see a new "LandStalker" game.

I hope it's going to be better than that pathetic game Time Stalkers / Climax Landers for DC. Boring gameplay, bad music and graphics that could even be done on N64. What a waste of VMU space

I love how they use Victor Ireland quotes. That guy will take any opurtunity he can to slam Bernard Stolar. No one liked Stolar back then. But Ireland was way over the top.

What happen to WG? The last game they released was Growslanser:Generations. They've always seemed to make small, but choice drops into the gaming line-ups. Yet, lately there's almost dead.

Well, it's not a new Landstalker game, i found this slightly funny.

I know Climax lost SF to Sega, but don't know if LS wentwith it or not. Golden Sun is or was there main bad-boy now.

hm, the N64... its lineup is just too much lacking, IMO. It has a few amazing games, but they're really a few.
If I look at Saturn/PS/N64, the N64 really had the least impressive lineup. As for the Saturn, it's amazing, but many of its games were ported to the PS and later some to PC.

They are probably referring to the SH1 that controlled the CD block. I don't think its the VDP1/2 because, even though they were 32bit, they are used only for putting the graphics on the screen and not to handle general instructions like the SH2s. Then again, the SH1 didn't do that either.
SoA just ****ed up I guess, heh.

I've read this article about Dcast some time ago, really poor judgement from Sega's executives if it was true:

Quote:
As a matter of fact, Lucard had a friend who worked on the US translation of Sakura Wars for the Dreamcast. And it was done. Ready to go. All in English. With voice actors all lined up and everything. And at the last second, Sega changed its mind. CHANGED IT'S MIND, people. Same thing happened with NiGHTS. Everyone pleaded for it. So they gave it a shot. Yuji Naka even admitted in the first issue of ODCM that he was developing one. I've actually seen an early screenshot of the thing! And then it got dropped part way through because Yuji got cold feet. I'm not kidding. And still it gets worse. Sega poured tons of cash into research on whether consumers really wanted another edition of Shining Force. You see, Camelot wanted to mend fences and make it with Sega. But Sega said no. Shining Force 4, a hair length away. And Sega said no. Even after finding out from all that R&D that Shining Force = $$$$$, common sense must have been on vacation that decade because they STILL said no!! Three bonafide system sellers, US Sakura Taisen, NiGHTS and Shining Force 4 not only passed on, but wasting ludicrous amounts of money in the process. It was insane. Yet they kept topping themselves. Finally, in one of the biggest blunders in gaming history Sega announced they were killing the system off a WEEK after the DC had its best sales in terms of hardware and software ever. Even beating Sony. A WEEK after! I could see the conversation at Sega's headquarters now.

Sega Exec #1: Holy crap! We actually outsold the PS2 in hardware and software sales last week! If we stick with this, we might actually come out of this successful!

Sega Exec #2: Uh oh. You know what that means.

Sega Exec #1: Yup.

Sega Exec #2: Pull the plug.

And to quote Chuck Platt, if it didn't go down like that, it should have. It makes just as much sense any way you slice it.
