looking for something FFVIII related...

before the ps2 first launched, square decided to show off the ps2's capabilities by reproducing the ballroom dance scene. however, the scene wasn't prerendered. i was wondering if anyone has a link to the demo?

Yeah, I remember that demo, it looked just like the game's CG (actually, even better), except it was all 3D.

Yes, I remember seeing that. Do you want the video of it at e3? or did you want the actual demo disc for render on ps2?

I believe impress game watch, famitsu, or gamespot might have the video of it.

as you can see the demo was made with Early/premature PS2 hardwhere.

hmm, well just to update, i found this article on ign that mentioned the FFVIII demo and it includes a poor quality screenshot.

katsuya, i'm curious to find out where you got those screenshots from. do you have the link to the video? are you in possession of the video? please reply, i'm really looking forward to seeing the demo, if i ever get my hands on the video.

I am glad you enjoyed the screen shots. Unfortunately I was unable to acquire a copy of the videotape 5 years ago from a game shop I used to frequent (I was outbid by the store manager himself) the only time I had seen videos for download was at the web site Videogames.com regrettably they no longer exist. ZDnet and then GameSopt bought most of the data from their servers. So you may be able to find something in their archives.

I obtained the screen shots from a user post on the evilavatar.com game web site here. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=25534)

The last copy of the Demo is likely back at the SquareEnix Honolulu offices or in a private collection. A rumor is that SE will release it in a compendium for PS2 or PS3

anyways, great news everyone!! jjulie88 of gamefaqs was able to find four videos on ign that has snippets of the tech demo for the ps2. i'll quote her post.

I looked at all the videos of the demos, and if I remember correctly, these four are the ones that feature FFVIII.

They only show short clips of different demos, and the quality's not excellent, but THERE'S THE BALLROOM SCENE. And the last one (6) has the longest clip.

i was hoping to find the entire video, but it's the best that can be done for now. for those of you whom are interested, enjoy.

That is nice to see, just to show how far graphics have come and what I saw most improved is the motions. They is still impressive stuff, I mean that was 98-99, its awesome to see stuff like this.
