That actually looks like it has some serious potential for not sucking. At the least, it can't have a worse fighting engine that the Budokai games... or GT: Final Bout... or pretty much every other DBZ fighting game ever made...

It can't be worse than the name although I've been proven wrong many times before. Sparking... wow.

Well, it's probobly because sparking is the last work of the DBZ theme song. It must sound cooler if you're japanese .

if the gameplay is similar to GBA's DBZ: SuperSonic Warriors, it might go well.

Theres nothing wrong with Budokai gameplay. And the last changes in budokai 3 makes it better then most beat them ups around. Final Bout did suck though.

Well for one thing, I expect a set of charectors that don't all play practically identical to each other, and for another, I excpect gameplay that requires a little more effort than just mashing the punch and kick buttons to win.

a couple of videos and new pics here:
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/610/610219p1.html
60+ characters (DBZ/DBGT and all warriors from the movies perhaps),destructible environments; some air, ground, water free flight combat.much larger arena, DBZ:supersonic warriors/DBZ Legends type of gameplay but with improved moves, visualy more attractive too.

They need to make a DragonBall Z similar to the series. You know, where the characters spend 30 episodes (say around 8 hours) powering up, fighting for 2 minutes, and then going to back to powering up. (Can you tell I hate DBZ?)

HEHEHE... I still have bad memories about the Freeza saga. Freeza throw a fireball thingy at the planet and said: "In FIVE minutes, the planet is gonna explode." Meh, the planet exploded after 10 episodes! This means that each episode is equivalent to half a minute???

Anyway... I like some DBZ games though. DBZ Legends for PSX is a great one (on single player only. On versus mode, it sucks!). DBZ: Hiper Dimension for snes and the only DBZ game on the Genesis are also good. One of the best ones though is the saturn one (forgot the name, but plays like Budokai).

Well, to tell the truth, the BEST one IMO is... "DBZ: Psicomaniaco", a MUGEN DBZ game made by me.

Ok, obviously you've been watching the edited American version. In order to fill out the episodes after all the stuff they cut out, they spliced in a bunch of powering up scenes. In the original Japanese version though, there's much more solid action. They reused some power up scenes (the endless use of the Genki Dama energy collection scene comes to mind) to help keep up with the animation schedule, which in a show with that much action isn't easy, but compared to the American version it doesn't even come close to being annoying.

I'm not saying DBZ is the best action anime in the world. IMO Yu Yu Hakusho beats it, and for that matter so does the original DB. It's just that too many people hate it based on the edited version, and I really don't think that's justified.

Oh no, I hate it for a variety of reasons. There's no story. The characters are flat and uninteresting. The scenery is dry... and that's being kind. The "action" is summarily abrupt and boring. The character art of some of the characters is interesting (some being the emphasized word here). That's about it though.

I'm not a really fan of DBZ and DBGT, and I've seen the original and uncut japanese version (I HAVE DUBBED AND EDITED ANIMES!!!). Like Talbain said, there's no story, no character development... And even the japanese version have some slow moments... I don't HATE it though...

it's just one of those series, that are very exciting to young ppl, but could be seen by older ppl (and treated as light 'cinema')

I like budokai 3 and damn was that 3d dbz game on psx crappy, rented it and took it back minutes later.I would like to see them go back to the cutscenes of the first budokai though instead of crappy dialogue boxes. One last thing GO Ginyu force.
