Graphically finest on the PS2

Well, there is this new article over at IGN that gives their choice of top ten graphically wonderous games on the PS2.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/606/606189p1.html

The list is pretty decent, but where the hell is Silent Hill 3 ??!?!?

Read the fine print at the end of the article

Did your favorite game make the cut or rank around where you thought it would? If not, then don't worry -- there are plenty of other fabulous-looking PS2 games out there that we didn't forget. Devil May Cry 3, Tekken 5, Jak II, Transformers, Ace Combat 5, Final Fantasy X-2, and Dark Cloud 2 are just a few of the PS2-exclusive games that almost made the list. While disqualified cross-platform games deserve a mention too, with titles like Rez, Burnout 3, Prince of Persia, Chaos Theory, Silent Hill 3, and Fight Night Round 2 looking good no matter what system they go to. No matter what the criteria, though, the PlayStation 2 definitely has its share of beautiful games, and whether you're an Xbox or Cube loyal or not, it's hard to deny their magnificence.
Interesting list nonetheless, thanks for pointing out.

Well that is what my argument is.......I mean, SH3 came to PS3 MUCH MUCH before it came out on anything else....

/me agrees with Syed... SH3 is still a wonderfull looking game...
I remember having an argument on ngemu with people who didn't believe the shots from Douglas, the detective were real time...

They should have put Rygar in the top ten...
...and 'nightmare before christmas' (especially because of its light/smoke/water effects...) but it's still not released outside of Japan...

Odd given that MGS2 was there even though substance was ported to every platform at the time (except ATi).

Perhaps they made a difference between PS2 games/exclusives that weren't meant to be ported in the first place, and games of which they knew from before that they would become cross-platform?

Did they actualy port it for ATi cards in the end? I thought it was still an nVidia, PS2, GameCube and XBox only affair.

I've played trough it without any problems... Other than waiting half a year to be able to do it, that's it.

We are pleased with the picks. ICO may be dated, but it is still absolutely beautiful. The fact that it's 2001 era graphics are on par with todays well developed games speaks volumes.
God of War...indeed...That game as graphically worthy of a #1 ranking

erh, its at ten actually. God of War is at one.

By the way, I am yet to try GoW but what makes it stand out......I mean, the pics looks just ok to me...

and as far as MGS2 is concerned, a patch was later released so that it ran on ATi cards.

It's not so much the pics Fawad. You need to see this game in motion to truly understand

The list made me wanna play that ICO game I bought a long time ago but never had the urge to play it. Now I am hooked, nice game. Great list too, I agree with most things that are said in there, I have yet to try God of War though.

I saw this today aswell. Very good list IMO, and you have to admit it would be hard to only choose 10. God Of War wasnt anything special, yet it did have some cool graphics. (The ign guys picked it for the topless women )

From waht i've played, god of war looked the most fluent and crisp and more like a beefy x-box game than a ps2 game, and ran at freat framerates too. Haven't played ico though.

The PS3? When were PS3 systems sold?

I think you meant PS2?

I guess "Wanda and the Colosseus" , a new game set in the same world as ICO (but not a sequel) has a good chance to take the 1st spot in the future
I'm glad they tought of Ace Combat V, as it does look totally awesome.
Note that if I'm not mistaken the very same ign (but prolly a different guy) said that Tekken 5 was the best looking ps2 game so far

Anyway; MGS3, Ace Combat V and GT4 are definately the best looking games I currently have.

And I guess Silent Scope 2 is one of the the least good looking games on the ps2, but it's still a lot of fun ^_^
