Oh please, that interview is garbage Yamauchi is a big time whiner... Capcom and Square betrayed them just because they want to do what every single company on the world does (earning money)? I laugh at his ridiculous assumption of "Nintendo is the best videogame software productor of all times" when their games (with a number of exceptions that I can count with my fingers) are nothing more than revamped 3D versions of the same games... just take a look at Zelda games (with the exception of the upcoming title), Pokemon or Fire Emblem... as addictive as they are they are nothing but more of the same.

Tell you what, create a thread and ask everyone which one is their favorite Snes title: 90% of them will name a game that is from a third party company, 7% will say that the Snes sucked (Sega fanboys most likely) and the remaining 3% will name a Nintendo title (part of them normal gamers and the rest Nintendo fanboys). Nintendo hasn't innovated in a long while... making aside games like Pikmin the rest are just more of the same... and to think that people once loather MS for speaking more than they should... since we are talking about Yamauchi I'm guessing that the guy will be perceived as a hero. Bah, this is ridiculous...

His assumptions against Sega are preposterous considering that they lost the console war because:
a) They are a bunch of dumbasses with communication issues
and
b) Piracy virtually raped the Dreamcast.

Sega showed on the Dreamcast more innovation than Nintendo did on the GC and the N64 combined... Yamauchi should retire and start writing his memories or something... that way he would spare the non fanboys members of the video game world of his extremely biased and retard statements.

Hmm, I pretty much agree with Kaiser...I honestly lost faith with the n64 and on, all nintendo has been doing is remaking games for the GBA and now the DS...which is cool but not when he says that's what everyone else is doing, yet it wrong for them. WIth the way things are going, I have a feeling that Nintendo with turn into another Sega....and just make software...

His arrogance is worse than I've seen from Kaiser

I agree with Kaiser on this one as well.

I think someone is still living in the NES/SNES era

Nintendo may have survived, but it never surpassed Sega at any time. What happenned to Sega was because of poor marketing schemes, bad timing and lack of proper organisation. I think it's a matter of time before Nintendo starts to die, now that they have Sony at their necks on both portable and console wars. Give MS some time before it joins the party too.

Oh excuse me, I am only a mere canadian speaking here...

Yours,
-Elly

hey...we still dont know how the PSP will be a "threat" to Nintendo. but its nice to see "friendly" comeptition now
should make for better hardware/software in the future and maybe less remakes...

friendly competition?
It's war out of there, a war for profits and buisness. Make one mistake and you're out of the game. And yes, they should be shoving out less remakes and more originals soon.

hehe...We don't quite see YAMAUCHI-san telling people to suck his tiny yellow balls..

Oh...we found the Jack Gleason GMAIL account humorous as well under the small biography of the writer.

heheeheh. the article was fake from the simple fact that yamauchi had not ago previously stated that Nintendo would go to hell if the DS doesnt succeed.

tho, i wud like to say that some of the points made in this article are strikingly similar to morita's in his autobiography.

Though the interview was fake, Nintendo rocks :P Really good games, and I love their innovations (don't get me wrong, sega was great at this as well, I just wish sony and microsoft would try to do something instead of upping processor speeds over and over - the ps2 is just an overclocked psx pretty much, the xbox is just like the psx but overclocked as well, and frankly even the gamecube is an overclocked n64 - this generation gave us no innovation, methinks it's due to the lack of sega). Long live the DS, better 3rd party backing and more hardware functions, at the cost of polygon count ^_~x

The comparison between Nintendo / Sega and Microsoft and Sony is pointless... the first two were dedicated to both software and hardware while the other 2 are almost entirely advocated to the hardware development... so sure, Nintendo wins the software innovation category... by default (as in, lack of competition)
