don't ask which is better, it will turn into another Next-Gen Console war. And it primarily depends on what kind of games you like. EA Sports games are goin on x-box live next year so thats good for sports fans, and its got decent action games and the advantage of many games having x-box live. PS2 is pretty much RPG's and Platformers. Just depends on your preferences.

money whise XBox is better, because you can mod (not for stealing games but to put Evolution X or Windows) it and have a whole media center. And makes a very cheap PC. Game whise PS2 is better, because it have FF and Kingdom Hearts which are amazing games, and socom isnt that bad. If you perfer FPS then its XBox because of Halo and R6. But in the end PS2 is the better console, you have to take in consideration that they are still making ps1 games, and there are so many PS2s world. Developers who continue making games for the PS2 well into the next console war. Last edited by Squigi63; September 1st, 2004 at 03:55.. |

Like I always say, a console greatness is determined by it's games, so pick whatever kinds of games you like, and there's your better console.

i used to chose ps2 over xbox, but now its all changed, ps2 dont import 2d game to US no more, but XBox is opposite, they ported almost all of my favorite 2d games, like kof, metal slug, samurai showdown, svc and lots of other 2d games..im all about 2d games so i pick XBox...plus there are lots of emulators for xbox..like kawaks..

I'd say buy a PS2 and stick with a PC for XboX games as all the good games on the Xbox will be ported to the PC (Halo had an "Exclusive to the Xbox" label but still it made it on the PC) Besides good Xbox games are better played on the PC as they are mostly games that require precision shooting (Halo,Splinter Cell) or have a port on other consoles (Prince Of Persia)

Pretty much what they said. I wondered about the same question before myself. Consoles alone, Xbox, IMHO, without a doubt is definitely the better deal, and by far. It's got a harddrive, 4 controller sockets and it's network ready; so there is no need for you to spend extra money on memory cards, 4-player multi-tap and a network card (which I think they should be including with all the PS2 now already!). But since consoles are bought to play games, I settled myself with a PS2 for Final Fantasys .

if ur in it for the games, theres games on both consoles for everyone, but its hard to look over the fact that ps2 has subtantially MORE games for every genre than the xbox (incidently, ps2 has a lot of games in each genre that beats their xbox counterparts). I'd say go with the ps2 because, like player-x (and mebe some other ppl) said, a lot of the good games for xbox will be ported to pc anyway. If they dont, u can be sure that xbox emulators for pc will be able to play them perfectly on an emulator using todays midrange computer (xbox practically is pc neway...) whereas u cant even dream of doing that for ps2 (due to having vastly different architectures).

Didn't wanna sign in, more of a lurker these days due to too much to do all the time. Anyways, had to respond when I saw this. The best console hardware, graphics, etc. wise is X-Box, hands down. But the console with the most games for it, excellent games I might add, and many more yet to come, is the PS2. So the choice should be simple, PS2 first and then later, if you can, X-Box. I have both and I know whereof I speak. sx/amiga |

I have all three next gen consoles I love my ps2 more than all of them. Though the x-box does have a *few good games. Most you can get on the pc though, other than Fable.
