When you say you want to translate text. You mean into another language? What language?

If your wanting translations for some psx games. Here's a site which contains the only known PSX translation that are fan translated.

http://donut.parodius.com/

If your wanting to do the translations yourself, you may want to hit them up in the forums.

That site only deals in english translations, judging from this guy's english, i'm guessing he wants it translated to something else.

You can apply PPF patchs, I am guessing thats what most translators use to apply their translation patch.

I have a .sub file that came with a japanese PSX game. Is there a way to translate my game image by using it?

I don't think it's illegal, as the game is Japanese and I don't think it's accessible here anyway.

Please help me out.

that'd be unfair for the guy who started the thread

Alexandre: You want to translate the text or you are looking for a translation?

There are a couple of ongoing projects but as far as I know none made significant progress...

So it's illegal to download a game I would never been able to get otherwise?
See my definition of illegal downloading for this example is when you download a game (image, rom, whatever) just not to have to pay for it, even if the original copy is available to the person. If I'm wrong, then I'll apologize and stop posting about it.

In my case, it's nowhere around here and besides, I don't even think it's been released in English. If you find somewhere that has it in english, I'll gladly delete my image and go buy it. BTW, the game is One Piece Grand Battle 2

Yet the problem still remains. By importing it, it'll still be in Japanese. I probably have a file that will translate it and my question is simply how can I use it to translate the game.

As for actually buying it, I might look for it with other means than the internet (as I don't trust it enough to give it credit card numbers (numbers I don't have since I don't have a credit card either))

Thanks for the replies anyway

Well, once you burn the ISO of a CD you can hack it like you would hack any other ROM file... I don't know if the mean to create a patch is the same as with roms (judging from a couple of PC projects it isn't) but it shouldn't be too different either... as for getting this "extra hard to find" game do what everyone seems to do... dl it and claim that you own it, seems to work like a charm nowadays.

Translate a Jap game to English. Possibly using a .sub file that came with the image, although I'm not sure it's a translation at all. And the game is One Piece Grand Battle 2

I can still play without it being in english, but it would still be better if translated. But I'll survive if it's not.

the .sub file is not a translation file. if you dont know any jap, then i dont see how you would be able to translate it. your best bet is to wait for someone to make a translation patch for it (which could be very long) and patch the iso.

Not really, if you posses hacking skills you can just recruit someone with jap knowledge... most rom hacking boards have a dedicated area for this, http://donut.parodius.com/ has a section where you can post about your project and the request for help... granted you have hacking skills, that is.
