Question Mame breaks compatibility with newer versions?

Recently I just downloaded the newest version of Mame - version 0.84b.

When I went to run Blazing Star, I got a list of SHA incompatibility errors. Mame loaded up and the game and the graphics look like trash -- nothing by graphic glitches on the screen.

I have no problems loading and playing the same game under version 0.65b.

I wonder if anybody else experience the same issue.

If I am not incorrect I think the MAME team disabled some of the newer games. I know Blazing star is not new but who knows?

I'm probably wrong, all I know is that my .73 plays everything I want.

it's not uncommon with MAME releases that something gets broken when new stuff is added....
system16 games have been broken for ages...I don't even know if they still are or not....
also, sometimes romsets are replaced with other (better) ones....

These are mostly CRC issues (Roms appear to be ripped wrong, so the MAME team changed it). The easiest way to fix this is scanning your games with CLrMAMEPro enabling the deep CRC scan and fix, because this will reorganize the ROMs to fit the "new" checksums MAME requires.

P.S.: Kawaks did the same by the way.
