CS Source: CS improved or CS destroyed ?

There have been alot of talk lately on the upcoming port of CS into the HL2 Source engine. Notably, it being more then just a switch of engines. One major question presented by cs team member cliffe, is whatever to keep the shield in the game or not. Other issues include addition of vehicles (very bad idea IMO), some anti-shield weapon in case it does stay (molotovs for example) or the awp delay.

Thought id ask around on people's opinions too.
Mine:

Shield -> Has to go. even if it was fixed, its just not fitting in a fast paced game like CS.
Vehicles -> Again, CS is too fast paced for stuff like tanks or so. Would completely ruin the game for me.
AWP delay -> well im not sure the 2sec blackscreen delay is the right choice to stop the awp from being too good even in the hand of an unskilled player, something has to be changed in it.

Thats all i can think of. Please post your thoughts

IMO i think the shield does deserv to go unless theres some kind of anti shield weapon, the vehicles how ever i dont think they really need to go, now that we have a new engine new maps could be way bigger then original ones and some vehicles (transport not attack ones) could bring some great tatic planning to the game!

About the AWP i think it should stay like it was in 1.5! I know its a powerfull weapon but for powerfull players, dont think an unskilled player can do much with it! He only kills couse the ppl dieing arent beeing smart!

Anyway its just my opinion!

P.S. - The shield is already implemented in CS Source so i doubt they will take it out now

If you didnt read my post right, the CS team is asking players all around whatever if to keep or remove the shield.

The shield was a planned addon for 1.6\CZ. Now that players have shown their lack of use for it, cliffe of the cs team asked whatever if to keep it or not. I think that shows their intention to remove it if most of the players dont want it.
Of course you can always keep it, fix it, and have the option to disable it on the server.

shield has to go, it was a bad idea to begin with
awp should be as they were in cs 1.5

Actually the shield in CZ and the decission of making 1.6 compatible with CZ was the reason why the shield was added! It wasn't a CZ/1.6 planed addon!

CZ was in the works long before 1.6, and when they made 1.6 they knew the shield will be there too (as you remember CZ was developed by several teams, and i think gearbox was the one who made the shield idea).

Actually the shield idea, was made back during 7.2, that was the time vehicle implementation was highly talked about. "Jeepathon?". It was never implmented due to a large complaint roster on there forums. Once 1.0 was released in a large mass market. It became harder for small naysayers to control a group of 13 yr old acting children.

If you remember correctly CS was originally going to be a "Tatical Mod" back in betas. I think they have always wanted to secretly make it more in the style of a Rainbow six game, but could never due to fan response.

I know CZ was in the works long before 1.6 but that doesnt change the fact that the only reason why the shield is now in 1.6 is becouse 1.6 and CZ are gonna be fully compatible, thats right future updates are to make 1.6 more like CZ and in the future CZ players will be able to play with 1.6 players on the same server.

If this werent to happen you can be sure 1.6 would never be added the shield.

Zero: i think its good they didnt. while we have enough tactical games, i do strongly believe CS' gameplay is unique and should be kept that way.

Take out shields. They're a game spoiler. People that are good at shielding can become practically invincible nce they pick one up.

Please no vehicles. At least not offensive ones. Transport vehicles might be ok, but I can still picture a lone CT in an APC running over the whole T team.

Awps have to be changed somehow, They are pretty deadly in a total noob's hands, and you have no chance in some maps, when the whole oppossing team is awping.

Exactly, good way of explaning it ka0s, my problem is always making ppl understand my opinion

I hate how in certain maps you have nothing to do against an awping team or even a single player, without any relation to his skill level. Now every idiot that was AWPing is crying because of the delay they added to it.

I do not know if anyone of you really remember, the apc in siege. That was always a disaster...

*sighs* I missed night siege, such a better map back then..

Oh well i quiet Cs awhile ago..

Well i have played jeepathon2k and similer maps .. its nice once a year as a fun map, but vehicles are introduced to every map .. its going to be really bad.

I heard there will be no new maps with CS:S? If so, that's a joke for as long as we have been waiting for the next Counterstrike.

Shield must go.
AWP must be weakened.
No drivable units.

i think CS 1.5 was the last good version of CS. all the updates since steam have sent it downhill. remember all teh bug fixes? like flashbangs, the silencer tricks, reloading tricks...those were all fun tricks in the game and now the game is blah.

shield: lame, worthless, and not fun. turns games into a standoff.
vehicles: no place in a game like CS!
awp delay: i feel nice that i'm not getting pwned every round by 12iC3aZnb0i with an awp and a deagle...but on the other hand i wish that i could use an awp the way it's meant to be used.

In silencer tricks, you mean hitting secondary then switching weapons quickly??
Still works. It's ok for silencers, but that'd be gay for reloading. Unlimited ammo pretty much.
And I don't really know what changed between 1.5 and 1.6 with the AWP. Can someone explain to me plz?

Yea but 98% of those made in a week maps will suck. Also, good maps will need to become official maps to be really played everywhere. People know the current maps too well - a graphics overhaul won't help all of the newbies who will buy the game and get pwned by multi year vets. It's going to be a bloody mess online.
