Yes an playstation emulator would let you play playstation games on your computer from the cd. I'd recommend connectix virtual game station if you want to avoid big words.

However, CVS is commercial software. IIRC, there should be installers inside NGEmu's download section that contain emulators such as ePSXe and all the neccessary plugins you'd need to get started. Only thing that would be left is the BIOS, which we can't help you with. If you'd rather not have to deal with dumping a BIOS, there's always the PCSX emulator, which even goes as far as emulating the BIOS, eliminating the need for a BIOS image.

If you look hard enough the full version is available for download on various websites. You can't even buy it anymore so it should be fine.

>But of course, the admis are rom/iso Nazis and won't let us discuss them You're darn tooting we are. We ant this site to be running for years to come. Just becasue the software is no longer sold does not make it abandonware in the respect you might think. As long as Sony still wishes to persecute those who illegaly download it, it will be illegal.

woofer, you aren't "dumb" (Lord how I hate that word) when it comes to computers or PS emus. There are thing that you simply haven't learned yet and that is no crime. If you want a fantastic PS emu that will play almost any PS CD that you choose to put in, then might I suggest ePSXe, PSXeven, or PCSX? All are free and all are available for downloading right here from NGEmu's main page. They also come with plugins to get up and running right away. There is a read me file included as well that will tell you how to set up the emulator and get it working. Plus you can ask questions in the appropriate forums and get even more help to get the emulator going. The only thing that will be missing is the PS bios that makes the emulator act like a real Playstation. You will not get the bios with the emulators, you will not find it on this site, and it is against the rules of this board to ask for it here. This is because the bios is "technically" illegal to have (unless you dump it yourself from your own Playstation) and is the copyrighted property of Sony. To get the bios simply go to google, ask, or any of the other search engines out there and do a search for the PS or PSX bios. You're sure to find lots of links to sites that have them. One last thing, the emulator called PCSX does not have to have an actual Playstion bios to run some PS CDs, as has been said. It uses another method that emulates the bios and allow the games to run. But be warned, PCSX's emulated bios does not run all PS games, a good number yes, but not all. If you want to run almost all PS games out there, the best bet is to get a hold of an actual PS bios. I hope this helps you some in your efforts and welcome to the "wide wonderful world" of PS emulation. sincerely, sx/amiga |
