Ice windale 2 vs boldars gate 2

I did finish BG 2 and I think it is awesome. Now I am playing ice windale 2 and all I can say is so fare so good.
The thing is that BGs runs with the second edition rules but on the other hand Ice windale 2 runs with the third edition rules. It took me some time to get use to that! First time I played it I took so much penalties I really had to start over.
In BG2 the story line was great and the interactions with your own party members such as romance and side missions was very cool giving the game more interest. But in ice windale 2 there is no interaction with other party members well as fare as I know because you make them all. And as I said before the story line is good so fare.
Also in Ice windale 2 the humans for the first time are comparable to other races.
The game play is basically the same in both games.
So which game would you prefer BG2 or ice windale 2?

Baldur's Gate 2 all the way, Icewind Dale is great but it's nothing more than a dungeon crawler while the other title is a full fledged RPG...

anyways ive played through both these games more than 5 times and i have to say that Baldur's Gate is the winner. it has more depth in the storyline and the characters are much more recognizable (Minsc rocks )

Icewind Dale on the other hand is more action oriented and theres little in the story and characters. its also shorter compared to baldur's gate.

wow, quite possibly the most amazing display of typing skills seeing as how you butchered both titles. anyways, i'd say baldur's gate 2, but since you're banned, i guess you won't be caring anymore.

BG2, simply put. Although if these are the reasons u liked BG2, then I would just love to see how well it well stand up against good ol' Black Isle's masterpiece Planescape: Torment.

Also, I think IWD2 is a geat game as well. Sure it has nowhere the depth of the other two, but it's the best implantation of the 3rd edition rules IMHO. Plus it gives u the battlefield to try out all the advantages of different classes, races, and party makeups. Also, unless u're going to play BG from the first instalment 'till the throne of bhaal (no Kaiser, not all of us have that much time ), IWD lets u start the game from pathetic lvl.1. This IMO gives much more satisfaction when u see how strong your charecters became by the end and Heart of Fury mode is the best place to test it out.
I like to think of the IWD series (yes, I still the first has some charms over the 2nd) as the closest thing I'd get to playing an strategy game without puking (sorry Ali ).

Thats my 2cents anyway

Didn't like the BG series for the PC. Didn't like Icewind Dale (the first one) for PC either. I do like Icewind Dale 2 for the PC and Baulders Gate: Dark Alliance and Dark Alliance II for the consoles. Same with Fallout and Fallout 2 for the PC, didn't like 'em at all. Do like and have Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for both PS2 and X-Box. Can't say why it is this way with all these games, but for me, that is how it is.

Damn you sure are a console lover.BG: DA and Fallout:BoS are half-products that were only made to make money ASAP,they are a disgrace to their PC version's.But then again that's just my opinion.

I beg to differ, DA and BoS are the perfect hybrid between D&D and action RPGs; I don't know about BoS (I've only heard stuff about it) but DA1/DA2 are superb games. Just don't expect the same kind of gameplay as in the PC BGs, that's all.

for the love of god could you people please get the game titles right. "Baulder's Gate"!?!?! i really don't think Dark Alliance lives up to the standard of Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal. if your just in it for the graphics, than yeah, maybe its great. but as far as the storyline goes, Baldur's Gate 2 is a real winner.

Yes and no. As I've stated above both games aim to a different game style. Plot wise I do agree that the PC versions are better by far, however gameplay it's a tie and sometimes I'm inclined to think that the console versions are somehow a bit more entertaining.
DA doesn't live to the standards of SoA/ToB but doesn't aim to do that either... that was pretty clear at the moment of the game's release, so comparisons are rather useless as they are two different worlds.

Okay okay, so I never said I could spell. So sue me already, Frostmourne. Honestly, me'thinks that perhaps you make too big a deal of this.
Anyway, back to topic. Thanks Kasier for the kind words about BG DA and DA II. I agree w/you they are superb games. I'm not putting down the original Baldurs Gate games for the PC, not at all. If you all like them and perfer them over the others then that is just fine. I just don't is all.
Kaiser, if you feel that BG DA and DA II are "superb" games, then you really should take a look a Fallout: BOS. It is done in the same style as the BG DA games and if you like them I'm fairly certain that you will like it as well.
Myconid, yes, I do prefer console games over PC games. For some reason, I always have. I do have some PC favorites though. Diablo, Diablo II, Sacred, Dungeon Siege and the expansion, Get Medieval, and Neverwinter Nights are a few of my PC favorites. There are some others but the console ones far out number them. This is just the way it is for me. No real explanations here, just how it is.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Maybe, but I really think it comes all down to the gameplay... D&D based RPGs don't appeal to console gamers as much as fast paced/action ones. I for one have played the BG saga (from BG1 to ToB) like 23 times (with different main character each time), still counting, and I'm still not fed up with it...

I think DOA and BOS are aimed at the more casual RPG gamer. I liked DOA alot since the multiplayer feature was quite unique. I do agree however with the idea that the name was put there to attract gamers (and their wallets) I've yet to find a game from Black Isle or Bioware that I don't like. And if NWN2 is going in the same direction that Star Wars:KOTR went, then we're in for a great ride

yeah i know what you mean. iam currently playing SoA. which is your favourite character class? i really love being a Paladin in almost every game that has them. but it gets too easy as the Holy Avenger is one mother of a sword. i also enjoyed playng as a monk.

as for the bosses i really wasn't impressed by Iranicus. however i do enjoy killing Firkraag for obvious reasons right now iam about nail Kangaxx the Demi's @$$

Okay, I see Frostmourne. I apologize. Also I am glad to hear that you have enjoyed Fallout: BOS also. Did you know that after you complete the 3rd level you can unlock the Wanderer (the Vault Dweller player character from the orginal PC Fallout) and play him? I just recently found this out.
sincerely,
