Prince of Perisa 2 (Unknown title) - Info & Screens

"Ubisoft has officially announced Prince of Persia 2 for PS2, Xbox and Gamecube, the sequel to last year's popular action game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The game is in development at the Ubisoft Montreal Studio. Prince of Persia 2 will have a new free-form fighting system, giving players more freedom to battle in their own style, integrating new weapons and interact with the environment." - The magic box

*Edit*

More about it.

"Action-Packed Prince of Persia® 2 (Working Title) Boasts BRAND NEW Free-Form Fighting System

LONDON -May 6, 2004 - Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, today announced that the company's award-winning Montreal studio is currently developing Prince of Persia® 2 (working title), a follow-up to the most critically acclaimed game of 2003, Prince of Persia The Sands of Time™.

The Prince has to embark upon a path of both carnage and mystery to defy his preordained death. His journey leads to the infernal core of a cursed island stronghold harboring mankind's greatest fears.

Only through grim resolve, bitter defiance and the mastery of deadly new combat arts can the Prince rise to a new level of warriorship - and emerge from this ultimate trial with his life.

In order to accomplish his mission, the Prince benefits from a brand new free-form fighting system that allows gamers to channel his anger as they wage battle without boundaries. Each game fan will find his or her own unique fighting style as they manipulate their environment and control the Ravages of Time. You can dig into an arsenal of weapons that, when used in combination, create advanced arm attacks that verge on fatal artistry! Prince of Persia® 2 promises that game fans will fight harder, and play longer, emerging from the experience as deadly-capable skilled masters of their own unique combat art form.

"Prince of Persia The Sands of Time™ was the most critically acclaimed game of 2003," said Yves Guillemot, President and CEO of Ubisoft, "With Prince of Persia® 2, we intend to build on that masterpiece that will take Prince of Persia® one step further to take over the action-combat genre. We will offer you an even higher level of excellence that should once more convince the critics and the public." - Blue's news.

I believe UBI will either name it Prince of Perisa 2 or have a subtitle, yet right now that name has not been chosen. I think this is due to the fact many gamers (12 - 17) never played the originals. Letting them see the series as a fresh new start.

As for us old fogeys. Well, it leasts keeps the PoP name.

I don't mind the name as long as it delivers the same PoP content I got from SoT...

The ending song, I mean, it rules!

Does this mean that it won't be for PC? Or was that just not mentioned? As much as I love my Cube, I think if ported well (the key word there is IF, since many PC ports suck) ANY game is better for PC than for console (better graphics, better sound, better save features, more control options, etc. etc.). Sands of Time was great on the PC and I think it would be a shame if the new PoP game doesn't make its way to the PC.

The answer to your question is the question:

How were the sales of PoP SoT on the PC version?

Is it me or do the shots have a pirate feel to them? The more and more I look at them I get that feeling. It could be perhaps, the drugs..

Nah I strictly stick to needles only... okay I'm kidding I don't take drugs. But yeah I see the pirate theme.

island stronghold. What groups of people occupied islands in the times of persia? Pirates . it shouldn't be that bad, as long as they get the combat system right.

The Prince vs Pirates, that's gonna be good. Mind you, I like pirates.

However, not the Guybrush Threepwood type

If it's pirate based, would be fun to have some humoristic scenes like in Pirates of the Caribeans, and the same music composer

EDIT : did anyone besides me realize that it wasn't the same prince as in SoT ? That means no Farah ()
