Dreamcast Games

I'm thinking about getting a dreamcast since they're pretty cheap now, but I'm not much into the game line up ...so, what games would you recommand (RPGs, Beat'em up, etc). Furthermore, I'm not sure about the PAL stuff can I play NTSC games even on a PAL machine?

Sonic Adventure 1 (2 is ok, if you want less sonic time and a very linear gamestyle)
TimeStalker (nice little dungeon rpg from the makers of Shining series)
Jet Set Radio (fun fun arcade style romp)
Soul Calibur (One of the best fighters)
Evolution Series (A average, but fairly ok Rpg series)
Skies of Arcadia (Probably, the hands down best rpg that has been published in english for the dc)

This should hold you over. If you'd like more. Tell me, i currently have over 52 dc games. I loved the dc. Lol. As well as imports. If you do import you have to get..

Sakura Taisen series (Very very good strategy Rpg)

Ikaruga, Jet Set Radio, Sonic Adventure, Ready to Rumble (For some reason, I like the DC version best), Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Powerstone (I'd recommend 2, but I haven't played it) Slave Zero, Feet of Fury, House of the Dead 2 (Gun is a must for this, I still have mines ). Chu Chu Rocket, Outtrigger, MDK2, Toy Commander (Love the Multi-Play on this), Maken X, and I've heard good things about Cannon Spike, Samba de Amigo, and Border Down.

EDIT Oh, and one last one, Virtual On. The Saturn version is cool too, in case you have one of those, too.

Most of the games I see recommended aren't that great. (Evolution, Star Gladiator 2, TimeStalkers, Crazy Taxi. These are ok but somewhat mediocre)

This is what I recommend.

(For RPG)
Grandia II
Skies of Arcadia
That's it for good RPGs on the DC (Phantasy Star Online is very mediocre without online support)

(For racing)
Daytona USA 2001,
Test Drive Le Mans,
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2
Sega GT
Ferrari F355 Challenge
Crazy Taxi 2

(For 3d fighting)
Dead or Alive 2 (Japanese Version) (USA version is crap)
Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram
Project Justice
Soul Calibur

(For 2d fighting)
Guilty Gear X
Fatal Fury: Mark of The Wolves
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
King of Fighters 98 or 2000
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Capcom vs. SNK 2 :edit:

(For action)
Headhunter (if you like MGS)
Maken X (Japanese Version) (USA version I think ok also)
Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica (maybe)
Cannon Spike
Ikaruga
Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage (if you don't have Devil may cry)
Gundam: Renpou vs. Zeon DX (if you like classic Gundam)
Border Down :edit:
Shikigami no Shiro 2 (My newest game. Get a copy if you still can) :edit:

(For Other)
Gundam Side Story: 0079
Shenmue 1 and 2 (if you have the time for it)
Blue Stinger (maybe)
Space Channel 5 1 or 2 (if you like music games)

Then I think you should be fine if you can find a Dreamcast SCART (very rare and I believe you might have to modify the Dreamcast to use it)

You may also want to ask Kane about this. (PAL stuff)

Possibly. I don't think the Dreamcast has an RGB-cable. The only cables I've seen for the Dreamcast are composite, S-Video and a special SCART that you might have to modify the Dreamcast to use. (A multi SCART may also be available. then you could plug the DC and the PS2 in with the same cable)

Since you were the only one who added even Gundam games, I'll take a deeper look at it

Good idea.

Oh, and Kane said this in the PS2 thread

The only proviso isthat you have to use an RGB Scart, component video or an S-Video connector to do it properly. Of course, some consoles fake it, but if you follow the rules, it can only be done those ways.
