saw the trailer about 3 weeks ago. i download anything and everything that comes on gametrailers.com i like the way they did a flashback to the previous Suikoden games in the begining of the trailer. the gameplay and monsters look great.

as long as they improve the SIII's engine speed I'll be fine, there was nearly no place where the framerate doesn't droped down to 20

Yeah, that was one of the biggest cons in every review of the game I saw. Everything else was fine though And BTW: theres a Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation trailer on gametrailers.com as well ...Kinda like Kingdom Hearts in a different universe

Suikoden has been a series that has always made feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's one of the few rpg's that keeps it's games in the same timeline.

It's sad that the original scenario writier and creator left the series during the 3rd game. I have high high hopes for this. Set 150 years before the first dosn't seem all that well since according to the other games theyre wasnt anything important happening. Now, maybe we will see that there was something.

Oh and another Suiko anouncment was made not too long ago..

Ted is back.. from suikoden 1

Is it me or are prequel becomming a trend this year?

Onimusha 3
Half Life 2
Doom 3
Unreal Tournament 2004
Tenchu 3 : Return form Darkness
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children
Burnout 3
Silent Hill 4
Devil May Cry 3
Dungeon Seige 2
Baldurs Gate : Dark Alliance 2

prequels and sequels are definately a trend this year.

err.... there's always that number of sequals every year, since 1998 or so. It's not any more of a trend this year than its been for the last 6 or so.

just saw the trailer Tori and its unbelievable. i really liked it. aside from the obvious resemblance to the Virtua Fighter series i also found some other game references.

Characters - Kindom Hearts (like you pointed out)
Game world - looks alot like Phantasy Star series
Combat - Devil May Cry style (looks amazing)
Gameplay - Rayman style (rings hanging in the air)
Gameplay - Prince of Persia SoT (running along the wall )

The game looks great. anyone who hasen't checked it out yet should definately do so.
Thanks Tori

Indeed, but you'll find "innovation" nowadays pretty rarely, the only big innovation is ... to combine different gameplays IMO (as you can see at Suikoden and even more at Dark Chronicle).

But oh well, its better to copy wise than create worse.

Yeah, imo eye toy is a very good example of a bad creation. It has to be one of the most boring games. A person can only wave there hands at floating balls for a certain amount of time without going insane.

i dunno, is it just me or does anyone else think that for each game now it looses the suikoden feel, I would love if they went back to the 2d look again, 3 wasnt very good and I dont like the graphics of suikoden 4 at all if theyre gonna look like that, the characters look too human, they should have used the same kind of graphics that suikoden 3 had if theyre gonna stick with 3d

I know what you mean, though I think they come pretty close to the look of the artworks they used in the first part. What a great thing is IMO. Besides, its not like that they completely changed the style like the Final Fantasy series does. We haven't seen much yet, lets wait and see.

Well, like I think I mentioned earlier. The original director/creator left. The people who are there now are actually swaying totally away from what he had originally planned. It's almost similar to the megman x problems of late.

Yet, unlike them as well. The people behind suiko, seem to atleast try to reach a standard. While, the graphics due seem less like the 1st game. They are also fitting for the scenario that were seeing on the sea.
