NEW Final Fantasy XI expansion

well i read somewhere (i forgot where) that square-enix is planning to release a new FFXI expansion this coming fall for the PS2-PC as soon has i find where i saw the article ill give u guys the link that also has pictures

Im gonna gonna have to concur with Kain there... FFXI sucks! But before you go getting pissed again, realize that we are entitled to our opinions!

Essentially I have no problem with the game itself. My problem is the fact that they gave it a number. A numbered FF should not be an MMORPG. They should have just named it Final Fantasy Online, or something to that effect.

That being said, feel free to enjoy the game! Many of my friends play it. The only reason I don't is because I don't believe in subscription-based games.

Look at Diablo2. Massive lag, hacks out the wazoo, crappy support(how long did it take them for the 1.10 patch??). Like I said, you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay and get good service than play for free just to have a hacker PK me or get booted from the crappy, overloaded servers.

i played D2 since it came out and yes it had a share of hackers and duper problems but i wouldnt pay 15$ for it even if they promised it will be clear as crystal. the only MMO im gona pay for is WoW when it comes out.everything else is just below my standarts.

The problem with named it Final Fantasy Online is that XBOX is goint to make a game call like that; where you can talk with other(because is xbox live) and I saw that information in xplay.

Guildwars isn't an MMORPG. Their site does a good job of avoiding obvious topics like persistant worlds and # of players per server. Guildwars sounds like it uses the Diablo/Phantasy Star Online style of play, where people play in separate games doing their own thing in a world that is not persistant.

FFXI is a MMORPG that plays like a single player game. Through the use of "exclusive" items, level capped events, and intelligent NPC usage, they successfully make YOUR character the lead of the story. From your character's perspective THEY are the ones killing the dragon, saving the world, etc. The other people are just other people. The game also has a tangible story and an end boss. FFXI has all the aspects of any other numbered FF game in this respect.

yes, guild wars is not a real mmorpg, it's diablo with a highly advanced battle.net. Nothing more. There's a reason why those aren't pay games, because they dont require 100+ servers just to run it. They dont require hundreds of GMs to run around moderating it up. They dont have new content thrown on, persistent patching, or any kind of decent support. Those styles of games aren't bad, but they're different, and by and large most cheaper to run.

I'm really NOT interested in that expansion stuff!

Do you want to know why?
Because I live in ol' Europe which seems to be somehow disliked by Square and other japanese companies. Many japanese games take two or more years to be released in PAL region and even more games don't even make it that far!

The best example is Final Fantasy XI which isn't released in Europe, yet, but in Japan there are already three (?) expansion packs!

I still don't understand why the Playstation treats imported games like pirated copies making it impossible to produce import adaptors (like the Xploder for DC or Freeloader for GC) on a legal way without having to make some modifications in hardware.

THere's only one expansion pack released in Japan and that expansion pack comes with the US/Canada version. The second expansion pack is coming out in the fall and I believe it's being released in Japan, US, and Canada at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong.
