It's been ported and only released in Asia as far as I know, I heard people mentioned it a lot.

i heard it was incredibly buggy. I can't link to the site, but here's a quote:

Textures randomly turn black and it simply stops rendering certain models for no apparent reason, there are no graphical options (its locked to 640x480 and there are no effect options) and during play the game will suddenly, for absolutely no reason, slow from about 80 fps to about 4 fps. It never happens during cutscenes, it only happens during actul play. To make it even better, not only does capcom usa's PC section not even mention the game's existence, the japanese PC section talks about it only breifly in passing and has neither a support section, badly needed patches of any kind or any way to buy the game.

I wont even really go into the control scheme, simply suffice it to say that it doesnt include the mouse, it is FIXED (you cant reconfigure the controls), and it was apparently designed for some rare breed of japanese person that comes with an extra arm as 2 interrelated keys that are supposed to be used in concert (draw blade and attack) are literally on opposite sides of the keyboard from each other.

I wasnt exaggurating when I said this game is buggier than daikatana either. Daikatana was simpler, it just didnt work. Onimusha is far subtler in it's buggyness. It is very alt tabbable and takes up a comparatively low amount of system resolurces, but is completely and totally unplayable in its functionality. To add insult to injury, the ****ing voiceovers intercede on each other (when, going by the subtitles, one is about to end, the one that comes after it gets anxious and starts early so you hear two voices going at one time with two layers of subtitles.) and the escape key isnt mapped into the control scheme. I still havent figured out how the quit the game, I just ctrl alt delete to get out of it.

Id say that Derek Smart better hurry up and release another edition of battlecruiser, this will be the first year when his title "most incompitent game designer" will actually have some real compitition to it. Honestly, this game seems like it was programmed by mildly retarded into to programming students.

Texture problem and Slowdown Problem never happen to me (i'am using geforce card , i've heard that ATI user has this problem with the game , You can get the Patch to fix it Here

One thing that true is You can't change Resolution , Only 640*480 is used and you CAN'T turn-On FSAA in HIGH level (4x or higher) cause charector cloths become transparent , only 2X can be used on my card.


About control , you can map the control button in the game it's in menu but i can't pinpoint cause i've already finished it long ago and already have it uninstalled.

About Voice acting , i think it's not very good But it's not that bad like that site said
How to exit game ? ,I'am 100% sure that there is exit button in game that you can use , don't have to End Task it .

But i don't remember which button / where it can be found cause i've uninstalled it long ago .


All i want to say is , Surely this game in NOT a Good port (like GTA3,Silent Hill 2&3 , PES3 ,MGS2 ) But it's not that bad , gameplay itself is pretty good /w acceptable port .

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I have some installation problems with my game, It always says something about "Main app/catasthropic failure"

Do I have to change the regional settings to chinese?

Sasuke , This error occur when you Install the game Or When you want to start the game after Successfully installed ?

If you can't install the game , maybe you have a bad disc try copy all the content of the disc to your Hdd manually , If you get "Cannot read from drive__ " Error , Maybe It's bad disc .

If you can copy all the files to your hdd w/o any error , i think your game disc is OK , you may have other problem.

I set my WinXp regional to English / United states and Don't have any problem install / playing the game.

If you have Win 98se,Me you can't play this game (kick back to desktop when start the game) , If you want it to works /W windows 98se,me you have to use Chinese version to play the game.

If you have Windows XP , you don't have any problem playing this game (no matter what language , regional you set)

I think your problem is Bad Disc.

Thanks for the reply PRtv, but I already searched the net about this common problem, the cause is still unknown and my search didnt led me to a solution, I tried copying the contents to my hdd, but no luck, Its one of those 'component trasfer error'...
