New Capcom Studio! (Clover)

Resident Evil, Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry masterminds join forces.

Capcom recently announced the formation of Clover Studio, a new development house funded by Capcom Japan. The studio, which is headed by Atsushi Inaba -- producer for both Viewtiful Joe and Steel Battalion -- will act as an independent developer.


Clover Studio is also strengthened by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya, who have recently joined the team.

What will Clover be doing with all its star talent? First up are Viewtiful Joe 2 for the GameCube and PlayStation 2, as well as the PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe.

But Clover won't just be sticking to established franchises. Also in development is Okami (or "Wolf"), a game which draws heavily on Japanese mythology. Slated for the PlayStation 2 in 2005, Okami has the player taking the role of Shinto sun-goddess Amaterasu, who must assume wolf form to restore sunlight to the world. The game's graphical engine will apparently suggest the style of classical Japanese drawings.

"Clover Studio is a creative entity comprised of a group of talented game designers who have a proven record of developing awe inspiring games that push creativity and technology. Clover Studio is good for Capcom and video gamers around the world."

With the talent so far assembled, there's little doubt that Clover will indeed be very good for video games.

We already know that DMC is a by-product of RE. And we've seen how DMC merges with Viewtiful Joe.

Merge the three ideas together and you get: Viewtiful Zombie May Cry!
