Question A new mistic quest (ff)

I was thinking the other day after watching the ending of Final Fantasy Mistic Quest, that it would be cool if they make it again for the PS2.

Ps: if you never saw the ending you can see it here;click on the link beside the image to see the ending-you need the zsnes.

to see the movie just click in the mov. options select the #1 slot and press playending

why would that be cool? So they can torture us moreso than they've ever had before? Mystic quest was bad enough, we dont need a sequal.

I agree shadow89. Mystic Quest was not a bad game, not a bad game at all.
Yes, I have played it all the way through, so has my son, and we have both beaten it. So I know what I'm saying here. The problem for Mystic Quest is that it should have been released before FF 2/4 and it should not have been called Final Fantasy, since it really has nothing to do w/the FF series. If it was remade for the PS2 w/new cut scenes and better graphics, also removing the reference to Final Fantasy (just Mystic Quest instead of FF Mystic Quest). Then I think it would be an excellent game to ressurect. However I also think that it is highly unlikely that Square/Enix has any plans to do this.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

i don't know why u like it , but i beat it for one reason (it's a final fantasy) nothing more .
but it had some new additions to the series , like it had the first last boss with more than one form (even before exdeath) .
and as i remember it was made to see if american audience will accept the idea of rpg or final fantasy (marketing purpose)

No, it is not a Final Fantasy. It was simply called that to help it sell. Also it was released as an entry level RPG so as to get people interested in the RPG genre. FF 2 ( FF 4 in Japan) and, I believe, FF 3 (FF 6 in Japan) had already been released here in the USA before FF Mystic Quest and had already gained wide spread acceptance. The "entry level" aspect was what hurt the game so.
Lastly, I like ths game because it is a decent game and fun to play. What other reasons do I need?
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Agreed too. A fun game with nice stereotype characters. Nothing serious here.

Yes Metalmurphy I am the same person that you knew/know. As to what happened to my account, I deleted myself as an Admin here at ngemu back in January. The choice was my own and no one else's. I did it because of personal problems (at the time) and family and other matters. I felt I could not contribute as I should so I was better off going. Well, in March I had managed to resolve most, but not all, of my issues so I decided to come back to the board as a member. As to wether or not I will be an Admin again, that is up to Bobbi and the other Admins if they would want me back. If not that is fine, I'm content to be just a member again.
Sorry for the off-topic but I felt that Metalmurphy deserved an explanation to his question.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

No they are not making a new Mystic Quest. Shadow89 was just wondering if it might be done. As I said, it is not very likely.

By the way sxamiga, I don't know why are you saying it should not be consider a final fantasy title if you see the next two games (ff2/4 and ff5 jap)after that one, without mistic quest it would have been meaningless.

Mystic Quest was not one of the first FF titles.
Final Fantasy was released for the NES in 1987
Final Fantasy II and III were then released for the NES in 88 and 90 respectively
Then Final Fantasy IV was released for the SNES in 91
It wasn't until the 31st December 91 that Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, oft known as Final Fantasy USA because it was not developed in Japan, was released. That's 4-5 years after the first game was released.
Mystic Quest was an overly simplistic game in almost every respect, which most FF fans like to pretend didn't exist.

it was released in 1992 before ff5 and ff6 . well i hated some of it's basics (like that the hero doesn't have a special name ala ff1 ) and the story was simply (raaaaaaaaaaa) look at the old man at the begining , "u should save the kingdom as u r the one , now go and save ur self" (or something like this) , star wars anyone ? "may the force be with u" .

offtopic : did bahamut lagoon have a port like ff1,2,4,5,6 & CT ?

I liked the game, but I was young and in the mood for a simple game. I liked how that one guy had that badass claw and you saw it in the begining of the game and then got it at the end.

Yeah I know that's pretty cool about the game, the thing is that if they remade the game for the PS2 they would have to change a lot the storyline, don't you think???

I found mystic quest to just be a beginners rpg. Just something for the little of the littlest ones to get into rpg's. There's no skill involved in going through it, and it's really really really short. I went through far too many rpg's before that was released, and breased through it really quickly. The weakest FF game IMO.
