Need for Speed Underground 2

Seems like the first one just came out yesterday

Quote:
Electronic Arts has today announced that it will release Need for Speed Underground 2 for all current-generation consoles and the Game Boy Advance this fall. Currently in development at EA Canada, the street racing sequel will boast a number of new features, including a free-roaming city environment composed of five distinct neighborhoods.

As they explore the city, players will encounter rival racers who can initiate contests, point them in the direction of racing hotspots, and show them where to buy the most sought-after, licensed aftermarket parts for their cars. The game will feature 30 licensed vehicles and more than double the number of visual customization upgrades than were present in Need for Speed Underground--thus making for an impressive 70 billion possible car combinations.
Heres the first released screen. I'll post more when I get more.

April 23, 2004 - Last year, EA's Need For Speed Underground was the Madden of racers, selling five million copies worldwide across all platforms. It comes as no surprise that EA has announced a sequel, developed by EA Canada and cleverly titled Need For Speed Underground 2, which is set to ship for PC, Xbox, PS2, GameCube, and GBA this fall.

Underground 2 features one giant city with five distinct neighborhoods (think, boroughs of New York), where rival racers challenge gamers to races, offer tips on the hot racing spots and places to buy car upgrades. New game modes are promised, along with deeper performance and visual customization on over 30 licensed cars. How many new decals and paint jobs can there really be? Enough to create over 70 billion different car combinations. We'll have more on NFSU 2 soon, like say at E3.

You beat me to it Razor.

But I feel sad. I mean, they should add cop pursuit in it. Without cops, it isn't just fun.

Hmmm, Midnight Club2 was pretty much the same, I loved that Game. But Underground sort of increased the Street racing Game's standard, Underground 2 will be awesome.

That's cool that they make nfsu 2, but I hope it has more cars than NFSU because I would the game to be more like Gran turismo in that style.

Damn right man. If you recall, I seriously dissed NGS Underground and my hot favourite on the PS2 is still Hot Pursuit 2.

NFS Underground + HP2 like cops + Ferraries/Lambis/Mercs/BMWs + Burnout like damage models + GT like graphics = B E S T thing ever.

the very aspect of street racing is to race with stock cars pumped to the max with Nitrus Oxide Having Ferraris and Lambs on the street circuit is just plain stupid and unrealistic. these cars don't need upgrades as they are way too fast in the first place.

Sayed, dude you should have played HP 2 on PC. man that was the worst NFS game i have ever played (i have played all of them BTW). the framerate was so slow i could barely notice the difference between driving a Merc CLK GTR and a Lotus Elise. Also the controls sucked Big time.

As for the soundtrack, i really liked it. sure the hip-hop stuff kinda got annoying after a while but songs like "Born too slow" by "The Crystal Method" and "Two lane black-top" by "Rob Zombie" were just awesome.

- Its not stupid or unrealistic. Think about it. Are we seeking realism?! It is about doing things in games that you can't otherwise and I wanna pump up a ferrari and zap at 400Mi/hr. Why? Because I have The Need For Speed

- On PC, XBOX and GC it (courtesy of Kane) sucked giant gorilla balls. You should've tried the PS2 version.

- Soundtrack. Hmm. Was there "Fever of The Flava" and "Raise your cages" in the PC version?

Well, NFSU 2 will be developed by EA Canada, not by any other EA subsidiaries, so this will be interesting. I wonder if they'll redo the game engines and physics or not. Supposedly a while back they were bringing in a bunch of cars into the studio and doing motion capture.

Oh, and if my sources are correct, we might be seeing an AE86 in this game
