You really can't beat Chupon. Oh I'm sure someone has figured out a way to do it, but it's not necessary. When you see Chupon as your opponent that's the game's way of telling you that you're not supposed to wager that particular item. Only certain items yield unique (and worthwhile) rewards, and for all of these items you don't have to fight Chupon.

Chupon is possible to beat fairly consistantly, but I don't remember how, sorry. I think you need someone very fast who will deal out quick high damage.

The most reliable way is to have 255 (or at least I think that was the max, can't recall the ceiling now) STR, 255 AGI (although having AGI this high without cheating is VERY hard, especially considering the characters you'd you want to use for this. I think I topped out much lower than this, but every point of AGI helps), 8 attacks using the two best weapons you have (which in my case always turned out to be swords). Haste yourself however possible and then just keep attacking. If memory serves me, Quick spamming doesn't work very well because even hasted, it tends not to let you attack enough before Chupon has his way with you. Even with all I suggested, you only have an adequate chance of defeating Chupon. Considering you don't really get anything worthwhile from him, it isn't worth the bother.

Yes Rhombus, you're rigth, i figured that out when i fougth him whit edgar whit the offering and genji gloves relics that means 8 hits at once in Lv64 and he sneeze me away. i was kinda mad, but an elixir its not that worthy. Another question If i didn't wait for shadow, can i join him to my party anyway. how? thanx

Nope. If you didn't wait for him, he's gone for good. Without the airship to save his ass, I guess he died in the explosion of the floating continent.
