Exclamation Soul Caliber 3 (In Pre-development stage)

SCII producer confirms that initial work has begun on the third title in the legendary fighting series...

-data-

Well it's hardly a surprise given NAMCOs dedication to build upon successful franchises and the fact alone that it's a fighting title, however at a recent Soul Calibur event in Yokohama, Soul Calibur II Producer Hiroaki Yotoriyama confirmed that his team are currently evaluating ideas to continue the series. Sadly no specific details were shared at the event; whilst it's probably too early to suggest that console development has begun, we can at least expect to hear more information on the title soon.

-more-

According to the acclaimed French gaming website Jeux-France.com, (now JeuxActu.com) it seems like we could be looking forward to Soul Caliber 3 much sooner than we think. In the article, Soul Calibur's producer, Hiorkai Yotoriyama, suggests that Namco has been pondering a third installment of the critically acclaimed fighting franchise.

But before you get too excited, it's still too early to start trying to predict what's in or out as the development team is being very cautious as to how to address the next edition, likely in light of the mixed feelings fans expressed with Soul Calibur 2. Also, it's possible that in addition to any new features, might include the collective input from its fans, which in turn could be integrated into the final version of the game.

You didn't get my post.

I meant if Namco has dropped Tekken altogether?

Last I heard, their aim is to release SCIII around the end of the year (Japan of course).

Fawad : Tekken 5 is in developement, and will be multiplatform, since the sales of Tekken 4 on PS2 kinda sucked (if it was only for the sales, the game sucked too )

i liked tekken 4, but the mechanics of Tekken was wearing very VERY thin now, in 5, they had better reinvent the damn series, and put bowling back, keep force, add a new mode, oh, and make it so that it doesnt feel like tekken 1

SC3 would most likly be a new engine, as that engine would be generally be worn thin by then, unless im wrong and there just updating the engine, i dont know as i dont know how they make Arcade games...

I hope they add a "Tekken Force" like mode in SC3. It makes up for a nice beat'em up. And in SC taking more than one person on can be fun.
