Game autopilot
Here is a really great idea for a feature to include in a multiplayer game: an autopilot that can play the game for you if you need to leave the game for a moment (eg. answer the phone). The autopilot would learn your playing style while you are in control. Then, when it is enabled, it then plays like you do. So, if you are a crap player, don't expect the autopilot to win the game for you. It will be just as crap as you are. It would learn which areas of levels you like to hang around in, which weapons you like to use, your movement style, and whether you snipe a lot or run around just blasting everything in sight. Whadda ya think?

i dont think this would be such a good idea, i mean look at games like CS. wouldnt that be weird? games like that, you have good streaks and bad streaks, AI cant duplicate that (yet). and for RPGs/fighters/adventures/racing.....there's always the pause button

True, you could have good and bad streaks, but the system would still be learning your playing style over the entire time since you created your player profile. So, as a result good and bad streaks would cancel each other out in the long run. >> I like the idea, It's just this would be extremely difficult if not impossible to implent unless the game was preprogrammed to handle this. Of course. It only seems natural to make this a feature of the game right at the very beginning. Making a mod to do this would be just plain impractical, but when writing a game from scratch, it would be just grand. >> Also This would spawn a new way to cheat. Oh, great. That's one of the last things we need. But how would one do it?

Very interesting... ! But I want to play games myself, only in flight simulators autopilot is such a fine feature, but in other games I like just press the "pause" and answer to my phone.

Yes, but you can't pause a multiplayer game (and even when you can (like Doom), anyone can unpause it). That's what this autopilot was intended for. For when you are playing a multiplayer game, and you need to momentarily leave the game for some reason.

Well, I originally thought of it for use in first person shooters. Imagine having Unreal Tournament fragging people for you while you're over on the phone...
