The fact that we can't understand what it's going on (at least not entirely) shouldn't deprive us of counting them amongst the DC's great library. |

even so, for as long as i cant understand the story, i wont rate it as high as skies of arcadia, for i personally feel that the story is such a large staple in rpgs, you cant even begin to rate one without knowing it. Not that i'm dissing the game in any way, it might very well be better than SoA, but i'm like most people who cant play rpgs without knowing what's going on. This isn't a mindless shooter or brawler, in rpgs i like to know the plot. So as far as games that are playable by me and probably psicomaniaco, SoA is indeed the one of the best DC rpgs out there. If i could play these games, my opinion might change. And hopefully one day i will be able to play these (maybe through translation patch).

Translations patches for DC games are far from happening, mainly for the reason that you'd need specific hardware in order to apply them. As far as RPGs go, SoA might be the best outside Japan/Hong Kong (them bloody bastards, getting all the imports) but since the DC's collection is still growing, SoA was left behind long ago (even though it's a great RPG). Cid, Disc 1 has you exploring 60% of the world of SoA, Disc 2 is as big as that and even more

i know of one dreamcast patch: http://topping.zophar.net/ddrdc/index.htm If there's that, others are easily possible. Nobody would go through too much trouble (i'd hope) for ddr anyways, so it's at least feasible that there'd be more DC translations in the near to not-so-near future. |

Favorite Import for DC: El Dorado Gate:volume 1. Favorite American RPG: SoA, with Grandia 2 just a bit behind. Honorable mention: Evolution series, only cause I actually slightly liked it. Along with Time Stalkers (Climax Landers) As for Square beating SoA. I don't put Square with SoA at all. Too me it feels like two different styles of RPGs or at least what they set out to do. |
