Top 10 of 2003 (IYO)

With the year coming to an end...i was wandering what everyones favorite games of 2003 were...this is for any console, handheld, or pc....mine would have to be...sorry if all these are pretty recent...i couldn't really remember if some games were relased late 2002 or early 2003

1)Rise Of Nations (PC) - Though most people didn't think it was that brilliant of a game i absolutely love it. My favorite Strategy game ever. 'Nuf Said

2)Call of Duty (PC) - Definately the most intense gaming i've had this year. Love having a squad and AI that actually can beat the crap outta you. Intense stuff...yummy

3)Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (All Consoles) - Though despite the length i thought the game was great and absolutely marvelous.

4)Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (PC) though just a beefed up version of max payne it never gets old and it had one of the most involving plots i've seen this year.

5)XIII (All Consoles) - Also a very great plot that keeps you asking questions and never stops you from wandering whats gonna happen next. the Cell shaded visuals are enjoyable and david duchovney did voice acting (w00t mulder!!!)

6)Need For Speed: Underground (All Consoles) - First racing game I've enjoyed since mario kart for n64...great visuals and fun car customization.

7)Halo: Combat Evolved (PC) though it is a few years old, it was just released on PC and its great fun despite the requirements. Multiplayer keeps you coming back for more.

8)Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PC) - once again a great GTA game. Fun all around until you realize you've been running around shooting things for weeks and wasted a month of your life on a video game.

9)Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy (PC) - Jedi Outcast with more moves and sabers. Fun on a sesame seed bun. Nothin like shredding enemies with your double sabers...

10)Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (All Consoles) - Though i didn't finish it because i didn't want to spoil the movie it was a great game and no doubt had some great fun beating up uruki. (sp?)

EDIT: all the ones i played were PC versions...the only console i have is ps2 and i don't buy games for it so i ahve a lack of consoles....sorry

For games I've played this year at least:
  1. Disgaea(PS2): An almost flawless S-RPG in the Final Fantasy Tactics mould
  2. Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic: Star Wars: Baldurs Gate
  3. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time: How Tomb Raider should have been, although a little short
  4. Max Payne 2: Max Payne with better graphics, better mechanics and a better plot.
  5. Initial D: Special Stage(PS2): Drift drift drift. A purely arcade racer, lacking only a 2 player split screen mode
  6. Need for Speed Underground: Nearly giving Screamer Rally a run for it's money in my favorite racing game ever
I'd add more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

1. tron 2.0 (top of my list, but im a sucker for tron)
2. halo (its halo, cmon )
3. max payne 2 (loved the original, double-love the sequel)
4. ffx-2 (eye candy and lots-o-side quests)
5. KOTR (star wars rpg = the win)

i really need to play jk3 and nfs:u. the only thing i like about gta:vc is using my complete savegame to run around and so whatever i want, i dislike doing missions. strategy games bore me (i used to play them a lot and kicked ass)/

1. Silent Hill 3 - Most realistic facial details I've seen in a game yet. And the real time shadows are amazing. Creepy, dark, goodness.
2. Max Payne 2 - I love the Ragdoll effects. Looks very impressive and runs a lot better than less impressive looking DX9 games.
3. NFS Underground - An arcade racer with customizable cars. Through the window!!! Where the hell is my replay though. Still, it's good.
4. Call of Duty - I'm not much of a FPS fan, but this game was great. I love the Russian scenarios.
5. Silent Hill 2 - Stepping into the monster riddin town of Silent Hill again.
6. Lords of the Rings ROTK - Haven't played it much, but plan to spend some time on this one. Looks great though.
7. Chaos Legion - Impressive action hack n slash fun.
8. Midnight Club 2 - Street Racing go anywhere crash anything game. Nice graphics.
9. Halo - Dispite not looking or running as good as most of the above games, I found the story interesting and the gameplay very fun.
10. Grand Theft Auto Vice City - When do you win the game? I must have killed every mobster by now.
