Meh, I don't think the graphics are that bad. I kinda like the look of the classic FF games.

Toriyama: Yeah, FF5 was a great game. It was the first FF game I played and I still love it. It wasn't really that difficult though. If you manage the jobs well it can be pretty easy.

NO!

Why can't people accept new games? All I've seen come out of the industry recently has been remake after rehash after re-release. I want some new titles for god's sake! Yes, old games are good but it's time to move on and stop living in the past.

That was the biggest problem and fun at the same time. There were so many jobs with different abilities that the choice which to level up exactly felt kinda tough. And furthermore, which you should use to beat a boss. Well, monks with their double attacks were aways a good choice though Talking about it makes me wonna play it again

Come on.
Those are the classics, and you dont go around redo every old game.
It would be better for "Square Enix" to make a NEW game that incorporated aspects of the old games.
Mmmmmm....job system....

leave the past where it lies.

The title of this thread should be "Should Square redo the FF series" rather than " squaresoft WILL redo the ff series ". You got my hopes for nothing when I saw this thread Well, I would like to see a remake of FF6, but I highly doubt that square-enix will do that in the future

Yours,
-Elly

Re: squaresoft will redo the ff series

there is no way that Square Soft shoudl re do any of the FF games. that bad graphics are wat make those game them self. i can not see playing FF5 in new PS2 graphics. it would just not be the same. i mean it would look good and all, but it would just not feel the same at all. but thats just ne, idk how other people feel.

Don't forget that those graphics were GOOD when those came out. Just like FFX-2's graphics ae good today. So don't say the graphics are bad, the games are fine the way they are.

Geez, no wonder the video game industry is so stuck... we have a bunch of ppl who still don't get that graphics are just a phase on history. Let me put it this way: FFIV/FFV/FFVI graphics were outstanding on its time.
Judging graphics from 4+ years ago by today's standards is ridiculous... ppl might as well ask for remakes of most of today's games in 6 years from now... does that sound fine to you ?

Remakes are lame, companies don't use them but abuse them... and sadly, the public haven't realized this yet...

well as long as there is no released statement by Squaresoft itself, we have nothing to worry about... I think

But if square made FF6 in FFXII graphics, wouldnt you buy it?
I would be first in line to buy it. That would be fullfillment of my dreams. And if someone complains about ruining nostalgy "those crappy graphics are important to game", i'll say BS. FF serie is played because of story not for their graphics no matter how good or bad they are. Making better graphics would make old game only better and better and even more better, but they are definetly not necessary.

*EDIT* Oh, and shouldnt this thread be locked for misleading title? There is big difference in 'will' and 'should.
Or atleast subject name should altered a little bit.

*EDIT2* Thats MUCH better.

Why remake them as games .. make them into movies. The stories are WAY better then Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. I would love to see a FF6 Movie made the same way as FF:SW.

It's a good idea Keith, a movie that followed the game script closely would be great. I love FF6 story too (it's my favorite FF).

But remaking all the games is lame. Like many people remarked, the graphics were great when they first appeared, and they are great games on their own. I think that Kaiser got a point when he says that this is why we see so little innovation lately - people crave too much for remakes.

well, the problem with making the games into a movie, is that it'll have to be pretty long... probably have to pull a LotR and split it into multiple movies, otherwise, they'll miss some of the important events. we all remember how people complained about FF:TSW was too short. i guess they were expecting a 30hour investment.

The lenght would be a problem, alright. But remember that in a movie you can skip the random battles with no loss in the plot

No, I'm not of the shallow kind of gamer, graphics are not my primary concern... would you like to see remakes of the greatest artworks on the world ? I think not... a great work isn't determined by its look but a lot of factors...

So... you don't care about graphics but better graphics would make FFVI a better game ? That's... contradictory.
In any case, I crave not for graphics but for "sanctity"... I'd rather leave FFVI and the rest of classics as they are... classics.
