Apart from Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII you mean? Well there are ports such as Grandia II from the Dreamcast, and Breath of Fire IV from the PSX, and there is also an original game or two, like Anachronox. IIRC tho, most of the RPGs on the PC are PC-RPGs like Baldurs Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic or Hack and Slash games like Diablo II or Dungeon Siege. This is similar to the way Consoles predominantly have games like Final Fantasy or Disgaea. They are different markets.

like FF series on the PC platform?... well there are a lot of good RPG games for PC that I could name but they have different gameplay (and controls since we are talking about PC not console)

there are RPG that adopted D&D style of play like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Night, Icewind Dale, D&D Temple of Evil (oh, I've seen Grandia 2 released on PC)

but if you something like FF series, the next best thing are consoles RPG not PC RPG...

Septer Core sucks. Complete garbage.

If you didn't see this comming, I would recomend you look into FFXI.

Well, as far as I know, there are bunch of console RPGs on PC but most of them only available in Japanese or Chinese. There is also a korean RPG called "Magna Carta" which I heard it is pretty cool but I've never played it.

EDIT: Wrong forum btw, moving.

Agreed. Anachronox, however, is pretty good. It starts kinda slow, but as the story picks up it becomes very interesting.

It's also one of the funniest games I've ever played.

PC is not the system for FF type RPGs. SNES/PSX/PS2 is, predominantly, although there are noteworthy exceptions.

like the others have said, you won't be finding many console type rpgs. pleny of third person ones (D&D) and plenty of 1st person ones (M&M) but turn based? not so much. the ones i know of have already been named, and the majority of 'pc console rpgs' would be from emulating, with our friends, epsxe and psxeven.

best pc-rpgs are:

Gothic2 + addon (The Night Of The Raven)
StarWars: Knights Of The Old Republic (with tiny little romance)
Wizardry 8
Morrowind + addons

but you can't find any good rpgs if you're looking for love-theme, lol

Well, you have ff4-9 basically.. you should try to pick up ff4-6 on snes though (not that I've tested 5 or 4, but at least the conversion of 6 meant extremely (I can't stress this enough) disturbing loading times). There's also Xenogears and Chrono Cross (but you should play Chrono Trigger before Chrono Cross or you won't get the most out of the story). So how about some non-squaresoft ones? Wild ARMs 1 was a blast, though I can't seem to find the second one as fun... hmm... my memory is dead atm (just woke up), but there's plenty more.

Anachronox is the closest to FF than you'll ever get on a PC game
