Streets of Rage for Dreamcast?

I don't know if everyone has seen this already, but a friend just sent me this link:
http://www.tokyopia.com/articles.asp?articlesid=38
Basically it's a few videos someone at Sega made for the proposal of Streets of Rage for Dreamcast, which was rejected.

Re: Streets of Rage for Dreamcast?

Yeah. SEga of america was stupid to reject such a game. BTW. I posted this a while back. It's old news, but still though, Streets of Rage 2 is the best Beat em up I've played.

Yes and no, the reason for the game not seeing the light of the day was because of the usual problems between Sega of America and Sega of Japan... both are to be blamed, their communication sucks and it often ends in stupid mistakes like this one...

Our brother in darkness is correct. SOA and SOJ were never on the same page. SOA would reject proposals for Japanese games thinking the games would not sell well overseas (argh..who hires these freaks anyways). At the same time SOJ would withhold fabulous games thinking that people outside of Japan would "Simply not get it". Not only game wise, but also hardware wise. For example SOJ never informed SOA about the development of Saturn. Since SOA wasn't clued in, they decided to move foward with project Mars...Mars becomes Sega 32X / Mega 32X, and Saturn is released shortly after...forcing SOA to drop support, pissed of buyers, and started a trend they would inevitably become part of the reason Sega left the hardware market.

Gamewise it happens to other companies as well. That would explain the large amounts of importing. Sometimes we wonder if sometimes this is done on purpose. Sellers get fetch far more profit from imports...hmmm

Well, that too was the reason for its failure, however it should be surprising to anyone how quick the support for the 32x ran out... and that's it's due to what Dark Watcher explained...

Yes, the 32x saw some nice games... however IIRC the support for it didn't last for more than 7 months... even the SegaCD got more support than the 32x.
