Xenogears

Well I’m starting this thread because of my friends. I’m trying to get them to play the Xenogears. I need help to give a reason to play. I tried really hard but can't put it in words to play it without ruining the plot. So if anyone can help, I would be really grateful. Tell me the reason they should play Xenogears.

Re: Xenogears

It's full of suspense and keeps you on your toes with lots of plot twists.

It's similar to reading a great book. You just can't put it down until you're finished with it.

Elly gets naked.

Re: Xenogears

Because its a masterpiece? because of its long and entertaining gameplay? because of its fabulous sound track? because of its great concept? because of its complex story? because of its well developed characters?

Yours,

Re: Xenogears

Yeah i'm looking forward to playing the game. I got it imported 2 weeks ago from the states. I haven't really had much time to play it yet, but from what i've read on the forums and screenshots i've seen, it looks awesome!

Re: Xenogears

Xenogears is the best game ever! The story is just fantastic, the game is quite long, the char development is perfect and the game has the best musics I've ever heard on a RPG.

Anyway, go to www.gamefaqs.com and look for some reviews of xenogears! (Most reviewers gave a 10 or a 9 to the game!)

Re: Xenogears

Humm... yeah I've got to agree that Xenogears was a really good game, but i wonuldnt really mark the gameplay (specially the battle system) as one of its strong points. IMHO it got repetitive soon, because of the whole combo thingy, it required you to the same button pressing again... and again... and again... combined with a kinda slow battle motion... it was not exactly boring, but it could be heavily improved.

Apart from that its one of the best games (But nothing can beat the mighty Tales series )

There are like 12 combos ( or more ) for each character. And some of them are attained after certain levels. thats not repetitive

Yeah, i know, but the gap between combo and combo is huge, and in the end of the game you end up using 1 or 2 combos for each character. Each one is loooooooooooooong to make, and, well, theres when the repetiveness reaches its pinnacle.

Again, its not exactly a bad battle system, its kinda innovative and good, but its in no way among the strong points of Xenogears.

Well... i dont know you, but in the final parts of the game my battle system was reduced to a charge-combo, charge-combo loop.

Well.... again maybe it is than im in love with the battle systems that Tri-Ace has created (Tales series, Star Ocean etc)

I guess my only real complain is that Xenogears battle system made the already long and repetitive turn-based battle system, into a longer thing, with the combo thing (it doesnt fall as low as legend of legaia, but still....)

yeah, like the rest, the simple reason that xenogears is the best RPG to date should suffice.
as for the tales series battle system being better, unless you're controlling all the characters, then it can get just a repetitive.

Where to begin...where to begin...

Ok, great plot. But most (that being 99%) people will need to play it twice to understand it.

Foot battles = nice
Gear battles = boring like hell

Most of the game is spent fighting in gears = bad

The characters were nice, yeah. Except for Chu Chu. Die. *stabs*

Flight = most kick ass song. Evar.

Balto = My favorite track from the Cried OST.

Yeah the story line is exceptional. It has anime FMVs. It has some of the best music. Awsome looking graphics (Much better than pure 3D IMO).

As Proto said battles can get a little repetitive, no more repetitive than most other RPGs. And it is pretty innovative

This is my favorite RPG of all time, with Chrono Cross. It has the best storyline ever, a wonderful cast of characters, a beautiful soundtrack, you name it.
