Final Fantasy Scenario Writer Departs
11.30.2003

Final Fantasy series scenario writer Kazushige Nojima left Square Enix Japan last month. Now 39 years old, he was an important member of Square's first production team.

Nojima worked on stories and scenarios for Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts. Additionally, he worked with Akitoshi Kawazu on Racing Lagoon and was the director of strategy RPG Bahamut Lagoon.

meh, who cares. one man doesn't make a series. otherwise, all his games would have been as great as everyone's precious FF7. we see this kind of stuff happen all the time, and it never has any noticable effect.

He wrote some great RPG stories, that's for sure, but maybe a new writer, will mean new inspiration, and different stories. And I don't think Square will hire a cheap novel writer......

Yeah, there're plenty of talented guys out there there're up to the job. Maybe it'll refresh the series a little.

Re: Final Fantasy Writer Departs

bah. if they hadnt told us, no one would notice. everyone sticks to the story they like the most, IE if you like FF6 you will love that story forever anyway. so it's not a big deal all in all...maybe, as boltzmann said, it will change things up.

i mean, look at FF9! FF9 was pretty much the bastard child of every FF before it

Meh, he didn't even help with ff6, so it's kinda obvious he's not needed :P jokes aside, I don't think we'll notice it the slightest. Like others have already said, there's so many great writers out there that they wouldn't even have to be too picky with who they hire to fill his spot.

A man doesnt equal the team. The people behind FF are not only this man, I highly doubt his absence would affect FF significantly

New writer means new ideas. Doesn't neccessarily have to be a bad thing.

Re: Final Fantasy Writer Departs

IMO, this could be a good thing, will probably bring some fresh air to the series, we could use some change from the recent "hero who saves the world with a bigass sword and loves a princess/summoner/whatever".

well, judging from all the companies, none of them are bringing any fresh air, so i doubt 1 little ol' guy could make a difference. in the end, it really is no big deal.

ps. the hell does everyone's avatar have a santa hat on for? is it halloween or something?

Now you're asking for too much.
This would be changing the whole RPG's paradigm

Re: Final Fantasy Writer Departs

well, story writers don't usually effect gameplay, at least not directly from the meaning of the words.
