Mgs2 ending analisys (Boltzmann, gotta read this)

I just checked this page:
http://junkerhq.net/CS/index.html
It has a very indeep analisys, including a lot of research in books about gens and evolution, robotics and stuff.

"During the game, Kojima makes a loop to engulf the player. The one that has gone through the VR training in Shadow Moses; the one that executed everything as told; the one that has been "talking" to an AI and interpreting the recorded voices as if spoken by a person; the one who thought the Colonel was "acting a bit strange, but it must be because Raiden is a rookie", although has never met the Colonel in person; the one whose name appears on Raiden's dog tag at the end... This is clearly implied while running naked on New York's 52nd Street... "Raiden, turn the game console off right now! ... Don't worry, it's a game! It's a game just like usual. You'll ruin your eyes playing so close to the TV.". Those are clear messages to the player, as well as the screen that reads "Fission Mailed", simulating a screwed up GAME OVER, while the game continues in the small overlay. These are clear signs of a higher level controlling the "reality" that the game simulation is, which is being affected by the virus. So you see, Raiden was not being controlled. You were... "Son of Liberty".

Or this ie.

I won’t dare say that MGS2 was “flawlessly crafted.” Its story was not “well-constructed.” It wasn’t supposed to be.
That’s the nature of the postmodern: to attack the societal/literary dogma as it has been written since the beginning of time: “All stories must make sense, all love must be true, all endings must be happy and easy to understand.”

Boltzmann, what is your opinion on the analisys of that page?

whoa, very good sites thanks kazuya

different from others I did enjoyed the ending in mgs2, it did screwed up the metal gear storyline for future events a bit. but it was a refreshing and very interesting experience for me.
While I wasn't very sure what Hideo Kojima was trying to do with the story I could kinda see what he was trying to do with us, comunicating directly to the player through the game in a very special way, and it was good.

some people read into game/movies/anime too much. sure, deep involving plots are always great, but i dont think storywriters ever intend you to know more than what's usually given in a single piece or series.

Re: Mgs2 ending analisys (Boltzmann, gotta read this)

For some reason I cannot access the first website given - the link is broken.

The second one makes interesting affirmations about post-modern literature. But we can talk like this about any innovative literature, when they are born. In the 19th century the romantics were taken as revolutionary and subversive - now we call them "classics".

And it's too bad that I never played MSG2, so I cannot comment on the storyline (or the ending). I should look for some info on the net before saying anymore (specially since the first website is unavailable).

Strange. The link worked pretty good last time i checked.
Anyway i hope it gets fixed soon. The talk is very deep in that page, the scond one is just literature.
