Re: Far Cry

that's true. but for the price of an FX card you can probably get a better value with AIT

Re: Far Cry

sorry about that typo, btw you cant flash a 9600 pro to a 9700 pro, there are only 2 softmods you can do: 9500 np ---> 9700 AND 9800SE to 9800 (non pro i think). the reason is the way they have disabled pipelines. the 9600 has an entirely different construction than the 9700. sorry

Re: Far Cry

Nothing special in that pic IMO.What's so special the water effects???Nyah even NOLF2 had shaders and generally every new game does.Surely it is in high res with FSAA but check the grass and the texture on the land with the grass.Check the trees.Check the simple sky.All in all a nice pic thnx to FSAA.Still Stalker looks way better (ohhhhhhhhhh the sky,the sky )

Unhappy Re: Far Cry

If FX is only good then that must mean that ATI is less than good. I say this because Nvidia's FX is beating ATI's Radeons at this time.

Re: Far Cry

you think so? IMO ATI is ahead for the most part. i would gladly take a 9600/9700/9800 over my FX5600.

however, if i have a FX5900 or 5950 then i wouldnt substitute for ATI.

Exclamation Re: Far Cry

I don't think so, I know so. I DO have an FX 5900 Ultra and I used to own a Radeon 9700 pro. Of the two, the Ultra is far and away the better card. As for the the Radeon 9600, the FX 5700 Ultra takes care of that one quite nicely.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Re: Far Cry

well it all depends on the price as well. i saw a 5600u at Fry's for $99 (brand was PNY or Asylum IIRC); that would kick the ass of anything from ATI in value.

i get the impression that the 5700 ultra isnt much of a jump above my 5600. however, the more i hear about it, the more i like it.

another thing, i have a question for you sxamiga. given a 5700 Ultra and a 5900 (standard, not SE or ultra) at the same price, what would you pick?

Re: Far Cry

The 5700 was gonna be a huge jump from the 5600, but then they decided to castrate the memory bus :P
